Time to Read:

3–4 minutes

We’re not ready for Volume I to end, folks. If Volume I is done, that means the summer is over and that the low temperature for the rest of the week here in Charlotte will be in the 50’s. I don’t particularly like the heat, but I’d choose it over getting colder any day. And according to the editor of the farmer’s almanac who was on Charlotte Talks this morning, it will be a cold and wet winter, which I’m not looking forward to.

I proposed that we never end Volume I so the summer could go on forever, but then Wes reminded me that we have a lot of cool stuff to look forward to this fall here at the PRL, and maybe someone might like to know how the Vol. I serials end, and my plan has no scientific legs to stand on. So, very reluctantly, Vol. I will come to an end. Just not today. As the resolution of the exciting debut volume of a one of kind publication, Issue 12 has a lot to live up to, and your trusty PRL contributors are actively rising to the occasion. As we speak, Wes is ending his stroll down memory lane where he met the woman who turned his gaze upward and upended his notions of man’s place, and also made his toe nails curl more than once. Max is typing up one last story from his journal, and yes, its an actual notebook that he takes with him when he goes to Ladoga. Its not really the last story, Max has more stories than we can count, but he’s closing a chapter and the importance of his hometown is clearer to him than when we were first introduced to his world in The Encroachment of Things. He’s also angling Old Man Young towards the Bronx Avenger, and maybe we’ll finally meet him or her. The man of It Exists started out in search of the real world and he got so much more than he asked for. His collision with an alien from another world will be more of the same and maybe we’ll finally learn the man’s name. The end is here, but not today, I just can’t say goodbye. But Wes says Saturday is the day, so look for the exciting conclusion this weekend.

I wanted to take an opportunity to offer my sincere gratitude to the readers of the PRL Serials. We don’t know how many people are out there, but occasionally we get a chance to see that someone appreciates our efforts and it means the world to us to get feedback (of course its always good to receive praise but we don’t shy away from constructive criticisms). I got some positive feedback on Stone Hand from a Poet of Google+, a Mr. James Dugger, who is a talented poet that I hope others have the opportunity to read. I respect the ease that his poems have, they are elegant and descriptive, they easily transport you somewhere else. There was an earthquake in Northern California recently (story here), and Mr. Dugger wrote about his experience. Check it out, Napa – 08/24/14, and some of the other works on his blog. We might have a new PRL Poetry contributor.

Hopefully other people will reach out, and the PRL Contributor list will be as long as the list of serials we have. I know we’re not the only ones writing stories one week at a time.

We will see you on Saturday for Issue 12. I’m going to pretend its still summer, its not over until the Issue 12 sings.
