I hope you had a productive and informative Black History Month this year. It was a treat to explore Mississippi Delta Blues as Max introduced us to Zacchaeus and his Deft Hands, and you can expect so much more when his adventures continue. It’s true that American music, all of it save native and indigenous traditions, was created by black people. I am definitely erasing nuance with that statement, but it’s all good. Even if we didn’t create it all, it was forever changed by or only exists because of our influence.

It seems that soon, there will be a black woman on the Supreme Court for the first time, which is one of the few good news stories out there today.

You should know what’s happening in Ukraine at the hands of the Russians. I have no ties to the country, but people like Vladimir Putin can’t be allowed to bully his way around the world, it sets a bad precedent for peace in the global community.

All this chaos in the world, and the rumination on the contributions of Black men and women for the past 28 days, portends the March interim short from yours truly. The man who changes his name, most recently from Leeland to Azalaan, is back! Get ready to see him do something very unlike himself. Azalaan, the Idiot God, is listening and learning from an elder! Who knew he could sit long enough to listen to anyone?

Come back soon for the exciting start of the journey to the Heart of Blackness. Coming at you soon, or soon enough, dear readers.
