The Divine Essence – 18 – The Arch of Hysteria Enhanced Campaign 2

Time to Read:

9–13 minutes

Game Master: The fight is fierce out of the gate and it seems that at least one of the teams has a clear objective; to take out the Supreme Mmoatia.

Ahdis: These Third Tier Angels are full of fight. Why is it that you third tier enjoy such a fearsome reputation, Iaoth?

Iaoth: It’s Sphere. And you tell me. Your amazing sisters seem to have their hands full. Isn’t that Pultine there sustaining multiple blows from Harut and Marut? Not even a mmoatia can withstand that for too long. For your greatest warrior, she seems to have lost some of her fearsome might while she was cowering in her cocoon.

Ahdis: It is a pity to see Pultine struggling. She’s only accessing a tiny fraction of her true potential, and you would think that your Hairy and Merry would make quick work of her. But look at the Aerphim sweat. How is your tactic working out for you Sariel? These Third Tier are about to start dropping like flies.

GM: Down on center court, there is a chaos of action. Lightning bolts strike across a scene of winged warriors clashing in the air, balls of fire explode, and pulses of light streak and explode along the stone ground of the court as warriors flip, punch and kick mostly in one-on-one combat. But at the center of center court, under the stone bridges, six of the Third Sphere Archangels have engaged four of the Supreme Mmoatia in battle. The Mmoatia all wear the same yellow tunics that expose their shoulders and stop well above the knees, and the T3 Archangels wear silver chest plates with white skirts that mirror the Archangels gold uniforms.

Harut and Marut team up on Pultine and they both are able to teleport rapidly, but they can only swap positions. Harut’s strong and hard muscles bulge his brown skin, and Marut is quick and lithe, able to move stealthily to avoid most detection. Pultine is frustrated because Marut will face her like he plans to exchange punches with Pultine, but Harut will swap places with him and wail on Pultine, forcing her to block and recover. By the time she does and swings at Harut, Marut has swapped in and moves to a different position to start the whole thing over again. Despite the strength of Harut’s punches and kicks, Pultine’s skin is pristinely black and smooth. Her face broadcasts her discomfort, though. She has dreadlocks that drape her shoulders and they seem to rattle with each blow she blocks. When Harut is punching Pultine, Marut is throwing balls of sparkling energy at her from a distance that explode on impact and the sparkles are like sharp, solid crystals that scratch Pultine’s clothes and irritates her skin.

Whil: We have to find a way to help Pultine.

Raius: We have our hands full as it is. We just have to hope she can get her head in the game soon enough to help us.

Coffey: Focus on the one in front of you and stop worrying about the Pristine. We got four to deal with. Raius, you take one for a ride. Whil, spin one of em out.

GM: Coffey blocks the weapons of light that Esme and Boel wield in tandem and she flaps her wings hard as she extends a hand above her head that gathers light, and when it shines and gleams like the center of a sun, she slams her hand down in the direction of her attackers. The light flies away from Coffey’s hand in a flash and crashes against the armored aerphim who are thrown back. Esme is repelled back and slams against a stone pillar as Boel’s unconscious body sails back unimpeded.

Agiel: Look at Boel! I think he’s going to be the first out. That Coffey is a fierce one.

Sene: I still can’t believe she here, and she a Supreme like Ms. Ahdis. I knew she had some serious power.

Ahdis: She has hostile memories of Earth, and of you Umbatia. Thank Agê she was able to make it to the Fonlands before you or the Earthers killed her. She has blossomed like a true flower of the Disc of Agê. Boel is out of bounds.

Iaoth: Damnit! Why would they be so careless against a Supreme! Get your heads in the game! Esme, Harut, Marut, retreat and find Paimel. She could use back up.

Harut: We have the Pristine frustrated. We could probably force her to the edge…

Iaoth: Not if that Coffey comes to help. Retreat now and link up with Paimel to devise an attack against Coffey.

Ahdis: They see you, Magnificence. Your anonymity won’t serve you now that they’ve seen your power.

Coffey: I need a new Mmoatia name. I don’t like Magnificence.

GM: Harut and Marut retrieve Esme from the ground next to the pillar and they leave the center of center court. Raius, with his red-brown wings and lithe, muscled body, has grabbed his opponent, Micah, by the wings and her body flails helplessly against the speed that Raius moves. As he nears the boundary of the battlefield, he turns on a dime, releasing Micah and flinging her out of battle. The T3 Archangels are down two.

Whil faces his opponent, Tobit, who charges him. Before Tobit can lay hands on the plump Mmoatia, Whil spins in place and his gray-brown wings become a blur that smacks Tobit and sends him falling away. Coffey flies into Tobit and hits him hard enough in the back to send him flying out of the battlefield and unable to use his wings to stop himself.

Iaoth: It’s fucking amateur hour down there. That mmoatia just dropped Micah outside the ring and Coffey just flicked Tobit out like he was nothing. Tabris, are you aware of what is happening down there? You’re down three idiots.

Tabris: Cannon fodder, love, don’t get worked up. It’s only been like five minutes. Aarin is handling these umbatia things. He’s about to knock one out now.

Sene: Umbriel, Piir struggling. I don’t know how she got into it with this Aarin, but he playing with her. Been tossing her around for a minute now, and he about to kick her out cause she won’t stay down.

Umbriel: That’s my girl. I lost my prey, they ran away on me, I’ll see if I can help out. Firas, Manon, anybody got eyes of Piir?

Firas: I see her but I got my own to deal with.

Manon: Me too, sorry. I’ll look out for her once I deal with this rat man. He nice, though, I wish I didn’t have to fight him. He strong too, so let me concentrate.

Sene: You better tell your boy to run while he can, Iaoth. Umbriel don’t play, and she don’t like when other people play with her friends.

GM: Umbriel flies in fast, maneuvering one of the horizontal pillars the runs to the left of Hysteria’s tower, and she punches Aarin as she lands between him and Piir.

Umbriel: You ain’t looking too good over here.

Piir: They ambushed me. Him and the grinning one up on the bridge. He said he wanted to see what the umbatia were made of.

Umbriel: I will show them.

GM: Aarin glistens with sweat as he swings a glowing blue fist and connects with Umbriel’s jaw. Her white skin ripples with blue energy radiating from the blow as she smiles at Aarin who looks at her curiously. Then she grabs his head by the face and throws him up toward Tabris on the bridge. As she swings him, she expels the blue energy that she stored from Aarin’s attack and is able to throw him faster than Tabris can dodge. The two tumble away from Umbriel and Piir.

Piir: Let’s help Firas before they come back. That way all three of us can knock them out.

GM: They find Firas in battle with Pahadron of the Children who seems to struggle despite her size and the heat generated by her body that distorts the air around them. Her wings are dark and reptilian, and her fists are pale like the rest of her, but she has sharp claws. Firas is fast on his feet and he jumps around Pahadron with the aid of his chitin wings, kicking her and shooting blasts of light energy with each kick. Pahadron looks frustrated trying to get hands on Firas and then Umbriel and Piir fly into the massive form of Pahadron and attempt to lift her from the ground. They cannot move her, but before Pahadron can react, Tabris and Aarin arrive out of nowhere to attack the cluster of fighters. Tabris kicks the three of them into the air and Aarin throws a light blue sphere that hits Pahadron center mass and the Umbatia trying to take her down let her go as she drops unconscious to the ground of center court.

Piir: I think that was meant for us.

Umbriel: Firas! Follow us, we are moving on.

Tabris: Did you mean to strike down Pahadron?

Aarin: No, I thought I’d get that white thing. Is Pahadron conscious?

Tabris: Out cold, and it’s been…

Hysteria: Participant Pahadron has been eliminated. She was prone for ten seconds.

Agiel: Tabris, you unbelievable idiot! Why would you target Pahadron?

Iaoth: It was an accident, Agiel. Clearly these umbatia are more problematic than anyone anticipated.

Agiel: Sure, an accident. Keep it up, Iaoth and the mmoatia will be the least of your worries

Sariel: No need for quarreling. Iaoth, tell Tabris to stay after the Umbatia until he has personally eliminated all of them. He should ditch Aarin, though. Have Aarin join the others against Coffey.

Agiel: And what will the Archangels do while your even dumber clones bounce off each other down there like toddlers?

Sariel: Make sure there are no surprises.

GM: Sene and Walo look at one another, pondering what Sariel could possibly mean.

Kazi Fandral: He’s talking about the All Stars.

GM: Kazi Fandral speaks to Coffey and Walo as he glares at Sariel, then turns his attention back to the screen.

Kazi Fandral: Listen everyone, the Archangels are about to make their move. Argile, do you have eyes on Metatron?

Argile Brom: He is on one of the pillars, presumably watching everything. He’s not moving.

Kazi Fandral: They are about to make a move…

Argile Brom: We see it. Kazi Ethrel, God 14, and the Queen Rowen are with me. Uriel and Jophiel are after the xaxew Cic. Even with the Superguardian’s help, Cic is being drug out. Queen, Phanuel approaches.

GM: Phanuel flies fast at Argile and the Queen, and Argile flinches and closes his eyes a moment when Phanuel is close, but when he opens them again, the Queen, with her bulbous head and elegant features, turns just in time, her green tunic that is longer than her teammates sashaying at her thighs, to extend a hand that brings Phanuel to a halt in the air, like she is suddenly frozen.

Queen Rowen: You look very tired…

Phanuel: So tired.

Queen Rowen: Go take a rest out of bounds and hurry. Those other aerphim that look like you will try to keep you from resting. If they get in your way, take them with you.

GM: Queen Rowen has a very strong psychic ability that allows her to read minds and transmit thoughts and emotions, but she can only plant commands like this one in close proximity. And the command is very effective. Phanuel flies quickly away from Queen Rowen and to the nearest edge of center court. Before she is out, Uriel is there to try to stop her, leaving Jophiel alone with Cic, but Uriel is not able to stop Phanuel and she takes him out of bounds with her.

Kazi Ethrel: That’s two of the Archangels out! Good job Queen Rowen.

Queen Rowen: I’m afraid that I won’t be able to do that again now that everyone has seen it, but I should be able to scare others from getting too close.

GM: The Queen flies to back up Cic who is shooting webbing at Jophiel and spitting acid.

Queen Rowen: Is it wise to use acid in a fight where killing your opponent gets you disqualified?

Cic: I’m not trying to hit her with it, she would be a puddle now if I were.

Sariel: Jophiel, get out of there. That monarch can compel you to disqualify yourself. Don’t engage without Metatron, Gabriel, Michael or Raphael. We will not be losing any other participants.

Ahdis: That’s what you think.
