Issue 9, it’s here, and it’s almost like Issue 1 all over again. You got the man of It Exist, Wes telling a story and building a playlist, Max with his journal, Stone Hand and Emma doing things, and a Made in America One-Shot; what more could you ask for? The archives are already updated (we’re patting ourselves on the backs for that), so tomorrow, look for a midweek post to hold you over until the weekend. Enjoy!

This week:

The man finds a woman that makes him forget all about his first love. It doesn’t get sexy this week, folks, the man doesn’t go from 0 to 60 that fast.

It Exists Issue 9 (Amazing Elroy, The Magician Bk. 0): “When they are in NM, the man knows that he is far from home. He sees adobe buildings and the lay of the land is flat when there are no rock formations, and he realizes that there are very little trees compared to his home in NC.”

This week, Wes and Max present Tales from the Universal Translator. I warned you that it’s different, but I hope you enjoy. Come back next week for a behind the scenes look at this week’s One-Shot!

Made in America (Tales from the Universal Translator: Brolic and Colic/Royal Jeffrey and Queen Caroline the Terrible One-Shot): “Brolic is the same age as his cousin Colic, but Brolic is noticeably bigger and he can move rocks that Colic wouldn’t even dream of trying. His success at mating was due largely to his ability to push his competition aside and fend off anyone brave enough to challenge him; not that turtle fights happened all that often, but when they do, Brolic is usually the winner.”

We’ve all done it before, though most everyone today does it on some form of computer, and this week, its Max’s turn to flip through photos of his family and reminisce. He has an actual photo album too, he’s old school.

Selections from Rebel Max’s Journal (Vol. 1): The Green-Eyed Monster: “Most of the pictures from my youth are in Ladoga; the city has changed a lot in the past 20 years or so and many of the backdrops in the pictures have ceased to exist.”

Check out the new art piece from Emma this week. I want to be on Emma’s listserv from last week; just because I’m a guy doesn’t mean that I can’t enjoy a good joke at my expense.

Emma (or The Artist) I (PRL Legacy Series): “One day, Emma will read the poems of Roque Dalton and a light bulb will flash on, and she will set to work on a triptych painting about movement in art.”

It seems like someone was inspired by a certain Stone Hand poem. This week, Wes meanders towards the reason he calls his woman his Superman (and check out the comparison between this and his work so far on Made in America; the likenesses are uncanny).

Superman Lover Part 1: “I’ll start at the beginning. Valeria and I met years ago because my Uncle Thomas and her father Hugo worked at the same restaurant in Brooklyn, NY. When my first wife and I moved to DC, Valeria was already living there working for the Smithsonian. Maybe it goes without saying, but Valeria is a bona fide genius.”

Stone Hand is back, and he’s bringing some friends.

Stone Hand (leaders and Leadership):  “…that is Stone Hand and his friends/ they like epic things to bend/ to them, to lend a hand to their ascension…”
