Game Master: Pultine was on Endla at the clandestine government arch on the innermost sphere. The vista was mostly stone, like she was inside of a cave with immaculately polished walls. The ceiling was high and the structure was very stately, like a courtroom, and was bright with light from a source that was not obvious. Pultine and Rusa were armored with their weapons, Pultine had her axes and Rusa his long staff.
The structure seems to be one large room without hallways or smaller rooms, and Metatron sits on a throne along the back wall, a cone of light falling on him and making him glow in the well-lit room. There is a flurry of action around Metatron; aerphim waiting to speak with him, aerphim presenting information to him, aerphim bringing things to and taking things away from him.
Rusa: Please don’t approach aggressively, Pristine…
Pultine: Metatron! We need to talk!
GM: When Metatron hears Pultine, he clears the large room and insists that Pultine sit with him; four aerphim carry a throne smaller than Metatron’s but still large from seemingly nowhere. Rusa is offered a seat, but he refuses it.

Metatron: It is good to see you, Excisor…
Pultine: Pristine, please.
Metatron: My apologies. You were the Excisor for so long. What brings you to Endla? I imagine that you have left many injured Aerphim in your wake.
Pultine: We have not harmed anyone. We came here stealthy to avoid that. Metatron, I have come to do what I must to have you turn Seraphiel over to me.
Metatron: Part of our agreement some time ago was a clean slate for both sides. As much as I agree with you that Seraphiel erred in assassinating Tracia, there is nothing to be done.
Pultine: I will owe you a favor. I will do battle with you or your designated champion. My champion will battle you or your designated champion. I will offer food, treasure, whatever it takes.
Metatron: I am sorry, Pristine. Nothing can be done.
Pultine: What if I tell you that Tracia was never dead? Doesn’t that nullify the pact made in the aerie? That pact was negotiated by Tracia, and settled by Ahdis. If Tracia was alive, the pact is still unsettled because Tracia did not settle it. She made no petition to the parties involved to substitute her role as overseer because she was presumed dead. If she was alive, we are not currently bound by an improperly settled pact.
GM: Pultine, roll charm for me, then the MAO will take effect.
Pultine: I rolled 16 and 9.
GM: We’ll take the 16, and you add 21 to Charm because of your stats for a total 37. Metatron is convinced.
Alright, Pultine got to sway Metatron because your hellos to one another involved her telling you that new information. Here’s the rolls for MAO:
Parties’ MAO:
Participating Players: Pultine, Rusa, Metatron
Parties: 1
1 – Pultine, Rusa
Unaffiliated – Metatron
Parties’ MAO:
Party 1 1D4 = 2
P1: Pultine 1D4 = 2
P1: Rusa 1D4 = 4
Unaffiliated Players’s MAO:
Metatron 1D4 = 4
MAO: Metatron, Rusa, Pultine
GM: …and it’s on Metatron
Metatron: I think your reasoning is sound, Pristine, but I cannot take part in your murder of Seraphiel, nor can I aid you in your quest. It is a pleasure to speak with you, but I am afraid you have come for no reason. I will have my guards escort you out.
GM: How many guards come to see Pultine and Rusa out?
Metatron: I summon eight guards hoping to discourage Pultine from launching an attack. They each hold Rhasd Spears Lvl. 1.
GM: Roll 1D20 with an advantage roll for Strength because this is a show of strength to intimidate Pultine.
Pultine: Ooo, level 1 spears, how intimidating.
Metatron: I rolled 4 and 10.
GM: You get a 7 Strength bonus, so that’s a 17. The guards come and are sufficiently intimidating.
Pultine: They are larger than I anticipated, but Metatron, I don’t want to fight you. In all my time as the Excisor for Endla, you were the one aerphim that I liked the most. You are a kind and smart man and even you mourned at the thought of what Seraphiel had done. Is it my turn?
GM: It’s on Rusa.
Rusa: I’m making a portal. Pristine, there is no hope of swaying Metatron to your side. We should go to Bromeran, but I know that you would prefer time in the swamp, so let’s go there. Our time is much better spent finding Seraphiel on our own.
GM: So the portal is to Earth?
Pultine: If you want to go to Earth, go. My business with Metatron is not done.
Metatron: If it involves helping you get your hands on Seraphiel, then your business is done. No matter how much I like you Pultine, and I do indeed enjoy your company and wish you had come to visit under better circumstances, I cannot allow you to kill Seraphiel. Apparently he is not even guilty of murder, so that just compounds my resolve.
Pultine: Rusa, take your move now please.
Rusa: I’m rolling for a portal to Earth. If you won’t go with me, I’ll meet you there.
GM: Sorry Rusa, no portals for you. Your Essence Retention is not yet high enough. By this point in your history, you were still mastering your use of Divine Essence post your Yana enhancements.
Rusa: Why did I think I could make portals?
Pultine: Because I make them when you need one. Make another move or don’t take one.
Rusa: I’ll skip this round.
GM: Ok, so it’s on you Pultine. Seems like you’re eager to do something.
Pultine: I cast Mmoatia Persuasion.
GM: Ooo, it’s getting interesting. So, to cast a spell, Pultine, roll 1D12 with advantage.
Pultine: Advantage?
GM: Roll twice, take the highest.
Pultine: Just say that, I’m too new to this game to have absorbed the lingo.
GM: But if I use it enough, you’ll pick up on it.
Pultine: Fine, fine. I rolled 11 and 10.
GM: Nice. You can add 5 for your Essence Retention Score too, so you got a 16. You cast Mmoatia Persuasion on Metatron.
Metatron: I’ll dimiss my guards for this. Sensitive things are bound to be said.
GM: No need to roll for that. You’re Metatron, they do what you say. But that’s your first move. You get a second.
Metraton: Full disclosure, I am aware of this Mmoatia Persuasion spell because it has been used on me before. I already belong to Tracia and I am happy to hear that she is still alive.
Pultine: Of course! Why didn’t I realize that before now? No wonder you two were negotiating so slowly in the aerie.
GM: Well, Pultine, that means you have thirty minutes to get whatever information you want from Metation.
Pultine: Tell me where I can find Seraphiel.
Metatron: If this is how you want it, then I will take you to him. And you will have to best me in combat to get to him.
Pultine: Doesn’t he have to tell me what I asked? He has to be honest.
GM: He is offering to take you as his second move. Given that he is Metatron, already under the spell of another mmoatia, it makes sense that he isn’t as pliable as you want him to be, but you can still get the truth out of him. He hasn’t said anything dishonest to you.
Pultine: So if my spell wears off on the way to Seraphiel, you will still take me to his location?
Metatron: You have maneuvered well, Pristine. I will take you to Seraphiel, but I must defend him with my life.
Rusa: It’s my turn?
GM: Go ahead, Rusa.
Rusa: I cast Compel Truth. I know I can do this one, Pultine taught me. Metatron, tell Pultine Seraphiel’s current location.
GM: Compel Truth is a Level 10 Essence Retention spell and by locking eyes with Metatron and slightly squinting his eyes, Rusa hopes to use the essence stored in his rhasd enhancements to force Metatron to do what he has asked, just this one time. The spell only works on one command. Is Rusa successful?
Rusa: I rolled a Divine 1. I’m sure someone has said this already, but that name is so deceptive.
GM: Indeed. With a Divine 1, Rusa can’t seem to gather the essence in his enhancements, and he’s forgetting Pultine’s instructions under the pressure of facing the glorious Metatron on his shining throne.
Pultine: At least you tried. Take me to him then. I’ll use my turn to create the portal to Seraphiel. Tell me where he is and we will be off.
GM: Metatron smiles and descends his throne. His white wings seem to sparkle in the light, and the golden locks of his hair sway as he approaches Pultine. The hilt of his sword is visible over one of his shoulders, it is strapped to his back and the strap of it is golden across his chest that is wrapped in a pristine white tunic.
Metatron: He is currently at the airie creating music with his collective…
Pultine: The airie! I just rolled a Divine 20 for my portal check. I cast it to the airie, grab Rusa, and fly through with my second action.
GM: Whoa, Pultine’s trying to slip away. Roll Agility with an advantage.
Pultine: 8 and 13.
GM: With a 13, Pultine grabs Rusa and flies through the portal.
Pultine: I close it as soon as we’re through it.
GM: With that Divine 20 on the portal check, Metatron watches Pultine escape and the portal close behind her.
Metatron: Wiley one, the Pristine. I take off for the airie. I can fly from my throne to the airie in less than five minutes on a bad day.
GM: Let’s say you arrive at the airie five minutes after Pultine and Rusa.
The aerie is like a plateau, high in the mountains of the Olympus vista on the innermost ring of Endla. The Olympus visa is dominated by a mountain range and the archangels use it as a sparring ground because there are no permanent inhabitants. The airie is round and the structures along the edge of it makes it feel like a stone nest. The center court of the airie has the best acoustics in the universe and Seraphiel is there with three other aerphim, filling the airie with their harmonies.
Then Pultine arrives through a portal with Rusa.

Seraphiel: What is happening?
Pultine: You’re about to die for your insult against the mmoatia.
GM: Everyone rolls for MAO:
Parties’ MAO:
Participating Players: Pultine, Rusa, Seraphiel, three aerphim of the seraphim class, meaning they are not warriors but entertainers like Seraphiel
Parties: 2
1 – Pultine, Rusa
2 – Seraphiel, 3 Seraphim
Parties’ MAO:
Party 1 1D4 = 2
P1: Pultine 1D4 = 2
P1: Rusa 1D4 = 1
Party 2 1D4 = 3
Seraphiel 1D4 = 1
P2: Seraphim 1 1D4 = 4
P2: Seraphim 2 1D4 = 2
P3: Seraphim 3 1D4 = 1
MAO: Seraphim 1, Seraphim 2, Seraphiel, Seraphim 3, Pultine, Rusa
GM: So, two of the Seraphim with Seraphiel in the airie react first once Pultine arrives, then Seraphiel will react, then the last Seraphim. This means that by the time you act, Pultine, Metatron will have arrived at the airie. Even though he is in Seraphiel’s party, he’ll go after Rusa in the order because he arrives after the start of combat. And we are officially in combat because Pultine has declared that she intends to kill Seraphiel. I will roll 1D20 to determine the Hit Points of the Seraphim.
Seraphim 1: We do have names don’t we?
GM: Of course, Saniel. And because you have a name and free will, roll this D20.
Saniel: An 8.
GM: Seraphim 2, Tadhiel, roll for me.
Tadhiel: 15.
GM: And lastly, Seraphim 3, Hamon.
Hamon: 12.
GM: Ok, Saniel, you see Pultine and Rusa arrive through a portal, interrupting your amazing harmonizing session. You guys are amazing by the way, and it carries so beautifully.
Saniel: Thank you. Well, I’m instantly scared to see Pultine the black.
Tadhiel: I just wet myself at the sight of her.
Saniel: I think I speak for the Seraphim present, at the sight of Pultine, we fly away to shelter as fast as we can.
Hamon: Do I have to wait for my turn to go hide? I’d like to go now.
GM: The seraphim all dash off to the nearest stone structure to hide and presumably watch the proceedings from a safe distance.
Saniel: Exactly.
GM: Seraphiel, you’re up.
Seraphiel: I blast her with my Seraphic Blast. And he’s right next to her, so he’s affected too.
GM: Seraphic Blast is a Seraphim class spell. Caster shouts a high pitched blast at the target, and the shout is empowered by the essence to not only deafen the target, but it packs a concussive blow, and impacts anyone in a five foot radius of the target. How long have you all been practicing here in the airie, Seraphiel?
Seraphiel: Hours, Hamon is so pitchy today.
GM: So you’re gonna cast with a disadvantage because you’ve been using those pipes for a while now. Roll 1D12 to cast your spell, but roll twice and take the lowest number.
Seraphiel: I got a Divine 1 on my first roll.
GM: So the second doesn’t matter. Seeing Pultine the black emerge spontaneously from a portal in the middle of your hours long and grueling practice to get Hamon where he needs to be…
Hamon: I don’t think I was that pitchy.
GM: …completely shook your confidence. Not to mention, you’re annoyed at Hamon for making your otherwise flawless harmonies rough around the edges…
Hamon: You already said we were amazing.
GM: A pitchy seraphim is still amazing. So even though you’re normally pretty proficient with the Seraphic Blast, Seraphiel, you can’t get it together.
It’s on you Pultine, and as you take your move, you see Metatron with his huge, white wings, flying into the airie and he will land next to Seraphiel before the end of your turn.
Rusa: Are we really going to fight Metatron?
Pultine: I’m gathering energy for my Light Bomb.
Rusa: Pultine, this is excessive. Are you really ready to start a war with the archangels? They will respond if you attack Metatron.
Metatron: Pultine, I do not regard you as an enemy, I cannot. But you are being unreasonable. Tracia is alive…
Seraphiel: I thought …
Metatron: You are not enough to end a mmoatia. Welboas must have known that when she sent you.
Pultine: His continued existence is an insult to the Supremes…
Metatron: How so? Even his strongest attack is child’s play to the Supremes. You want to kill him to vent your rage at your sisters. You are mad with them because you think they do not respect you, but rather than sort that out with them, you have wasted so much of your life chasing this man who is dust compared to you. He doesn’t deserve your attention.
GM: Pultine looks thoughtfully at Metatron. Then she lifts a hand toward Seraphiel as the Light Bomb intensifies in her palm.
Roll for Spell/Essence attack, Pultine. 1D12.
Rusa: We don’t have to do this, Pristine.
Pultine: I got 11.
GM: That’s a 16 total.
Pultine: I launch my bomb at Seraphiel.
GM: The yellow-white ball of light zooms at Seraphiel who is standing petrified. Roll damage.
Metatron: I take the shot for Seraphiel.
Pultine: Why would you do that!
GM: Metatron moves in front of Seraphiel and takes the full impact of the light bomb. Pultine, roll 1D10 plus 8D4 to determine damage.
Pultine: 1D10 is 6 and 8D4 are 4, 3, 2, 2, 2, 4, 1, 1.
GM: 25 minus Metatron’s armor class, that’s minus 7, so 18. Metatron is down to 224.
Rusa: What does Metatron do in response?
Metatron: I take the blow on my chest and there is damage to my body. I stand showing Pultine that her anger has injured someone who considers her a friend.
Rusa: Please Pristine. This will get us nowhere. Please let us retreat.
GM: Roll 1D20 for charm with advantage because Metatron is trying to help you convince Pultine.
Rusa: 16 and 3.
GM: That’s good enough. Pultine, you hear Rusa and you see Metatron, and they’re starting to sway you, make you feel like maybe you have overreacted.
Pultine: He was right, I’m so furious at my sisters and I cannot rage on them. These feelings inside of me, I can’t deal with them properly
GM: She trails off and then she falls like she has fainted. But before she hits the ground, a cacoon of foliage has formed around her. Rusa stares at it with wonder while Seraphiel and the other seraphim fly away from the airie. Metatron picks up Pultine’s cocoon and takes Rusa to a ship. Metatron takes them to Wiis where Rusa will wait patiently for Pultine to emerge.
