Time to Read:

3–5 minutes

It’s that time again! We hope your summer is chugging along very prudently and efficiently, and that you are achieving your goals with breakneck speed and accuracy. Week three brings new serial fiction, the best you’ll find on the internet in fact, as well as a new principle to assist you on your quest for self fulfillment. Namaste, dear readers.

: : :

Parallel Principle #3 : Optimism is contagious, use yours to infect others.

: :

People are drawn to happiness. Happiness is a pleasant mood and very few people would reject a happy, pleasant interaction with another. An optimistic view of life is conducive to happiness. An optimist is not blind to the trials of life, but an optimist takes misfortune in stride and always finds the bright side of any given situation. A beacon of optimism attracts positive attention and draws out the good intentions of even the most stubborn curmudgeon. Master the art of finding positivity in the mundane and you are well on your way to building friendships with interesting people!

We’ll see you back here on July 17, 2022 for Issue 4 and a new guiding principle. Stay ever efficient in the meantime. Hope you had a wonderful Juneteenth, and enjoy the Fourth of July!

This week:

Azalaan bonds with Steph and goes deeper into the world of the Woke Brigade. He dons a clever disguise and then shows Steph why they call him the Idiot God.

The Black Man Who Was Thursday: “They’d been standing at the back of the church for about an hour and Steph had explained that he wanted the others to gather in the room of the church basement so that he could make an entrance.”

The all new epic starts here! It’s time to see Fonlander and Earther interact in the early days of Unrest I.

The Divine Essence: “Coffey was delirious. It was late July and there were no clouds in the Carolina sky to shield her from the sun. She could feel the rays mashing into her skin and where they connected, her body was hot from the friction.”

Wesley is proud to introduce his father. He seems like an honorable man; he’s a veteran of the US Armed Forces, and an attentive father. I have to say that the music of this series is very cool and you’ll do yourself a favor to check it out. Someone should link to a Spotify playlist (looking at you Wes!).

Come Close: “Joel “Jojo” David Livingston retired from the US Navy when he turned forty years old. He was proud of his career, but he was happy to be free of its duties when he was done. The navy had given him everything he wanted for himself and his children; he’d traveled the world, earned two engineering degrees, and managed to accumulate wealth that allowed him to take his wife on lavish vacations and to pass down something to his off-spring. “

The Great Afonso, King of the Kongo, is no more. But Afonso will have his vengeance, for he is the righteous hand of the light.

Sun of the Morning: “Afonso was furious when he made it back to his tent. Everything inside was ransacked, and his clothes were splayed all over the ground.”

Colonizing a new planet is hard work. That work is made harder without a tether to the old world. These colonists traveled to Mars and lost all communication with Earth, and despite the limited resources in their new home, they are determined to find a way forward.

Shuffle:  “Her patient, Mariano, stood from the examination table. He wore a light blue gown that was tied in the back. He was younger than the doctor, young enough to be her son, but still an adult in his twenties. He could have been a handsome young man, but his dark skin was pale and ashy and his face was gaunt like he hadn’t eaten in months.”

The dog stories continue as we meet Tamarvan’s mother. The town of Ladoga is a small world, it seems that everyone’s choices have major impacts on their neighbors.

A Misguided Solution: “Esther Mae Stevens started working at a young age, though she wasn’t even aware of the job. She was assistant manager of Kid Watch, a day care that her neighbor had started in her apartment after she was laid-off at the textile factory that would eventually close and put many people out of work.”
