The technologies of this alien race, that is an unfathomable distance from the Earth, make them appear to be capable of bending reality to beings on other planets, even to the most advanced populations in the universe. It is a society of beings that is not completely dissimilar to societies of people on Earth, but they lack many of the distinctions and conflicts common to the Earth. They have one representative government that is comprised of the most industrious scientific minds on the planet, those who expanded on the experiments and theories of great thinkers who had ruled the society before them. The government on this planet is mostly responsible for determining the use of valuable resources and for determining the vocation of the entire planet’s population. The government organizes its population in efforts to complete major scientific advances which may account for the world’s greatest achievement; it is widely believed to be the first civilization in the universe to leave its solar system and to make contact with other sentient beings on distant planets, an achievement that occurred thousands of years ago in relative Earth time, though the properties of time and space may distort that figure. This government has achieved many advances in interstellar transportation, and because of its mobility, the society learned new scientific advances from new planets that it visited. Medical advances that extended the lives of its people to near immortality, subatomic research that allowed for the rearranging of particles into any desired object, even harnessing the power of the stars, all worthwhile projects that entire generations of beings on this planet dedicate their lives to realizing.

Because the beings of the planet enjoy relative immortality, they rarely ever have sex for the purpose of procreation and their race has evolved towards one sex that is capable of asexual reproduction. The beings share many characteristics with humans of Earth; they are carbon based, they appear to have a dichotomously gendered population of males and females, and had risen to intelligent sentience through evolution on a planet with similar conditions to the Earth, but they were a race of beings who were easily convinced of the need to work together towards common goals that could alleviate the everyday stressors that were common to those struggling to survive on their own. Maybe their unity was easier because there was little variation in their physical appearance; life had only evolved on their planet in regions that were inundated by sunlight, so the beings have dark ebony or brown skin, and as they evolved towards asexual reproduction they also evolved towards androgyny, though an earthling is likely to assume gender were they ever to encounter a being based on the vestiges of gender like breasts that a being might possess. And before they mostly became asexual reproducers, they were also essentially hermaphroditic but required the DNA of another to produce offspring, so the time is now long forgotten when the beings were either dedicated implanters of DNA or carriers of a fertilized egg and any being can choose to do either.

An earthling would easily recognize a being of this world as an earthling, maybe an African or a dark Middle Easterner, and unless the earthling was able to observe the being closely, they would never know that the being was not born of the Earth. The hands, with just two fingers and an opposable thumb, and genitals of these beings would give them away, as they all posses something similar to both the human penis and vagina. Their skin is much tougher than human skin which is most likely due to higher temperatures on their planet, and their hair is thick and coarse on their heads and most have long dark locks that drape down their backs.

They are a mostly peaceful civilization though all members of their society are strong enough to intimidate beings from nearby planets. They are not necessarily stronger than earthlings, though contact with earthlings to date has been limited.

The beings of this planet call it Druont and they call their star that gives them life D’ot. They call themselves Druintes, and their government, The Mighty Druintes Delegation of Scientists, or the MDDS. They speak a language that corresponds to a written one and they have a system of numbers that has allowed them to literally number the stars in the universe.

The MDDS proposed the formation of an Interstellar Panel, a veritable supreme court, as they identified more and more sentient populations in the area of the universe that they were able to reach with their technologies. They theorize that the full scale of the universe is such that there are millions of civilizations scattered across the immense distance of stars and planets and that the distance between those civilizations is enough to render each practically alone in the universe. But the Druintes have been able to make contact with many distant populations on faraway planets through wireless communication.

Contact with other worlds is a big part of Druinte efforts, but a vast amount of MDDS resources have been allocated towards advancements in technologies to benefit the population of terrestrial Druintes who mostly worked in service to various projects. Many Druintes spend a considerable portion of their days at their jobs, in offices or factories, cafeterias, at the dorm style apartment buildings for the many Druintes who lived alone in one bedroom apartments where they stored their belongings and sometimes slept when they managed to get away from work. Their social lives are built into their work lives and many employers have bars and gyms which Druintes enjoy during breaks of various length throughout the day. Regardless of their job, all Druintes enjoy the same education that makes them nearly interchangeable in every occupation on the planet and many Druintes choose jobs based on access to certain social circles. Many Druintes are incapable of what an earthling might characterize as a deep and meaningful attachment to others and choose a relatively solitary existence, but there are some who seek out romance, love and family, though the Druinte concept of romance, love, and family would be foreign to an earthling. Druintes are not encouraged to form bonds beyond that of a reliable coworker. Familial bonds are relatively strong though the Earth concept of affection and connectivity do not translate exactly on Druont. The idea of kissing and hugging would be considered repulsive on Druont because of the spread of illness. Though the population of Druont is generally very sexually active, they only engage one another with their genitals and face to face intercourse is considered to be taboo.

Druintes have no concept of social sciences, though there has been a small group of scientists studying the alarming rate of Druinte suicide that has only increased over the long course of the society. Suicide is a fairly common practice in Druinte society and it is common for Druintes to give birth before taking their own lives, as the process of Druinte childbirth is easy to complete alone. The Druintes generally believe that they can start over if their lives become something undesirable and that they become more wise through the process of rebirthing themselves, a belief challenged by the Druintes who raise their children into adulthood and those who choose to have families with multiple children. The scientists studying Druinte suicide are convinced of a correlation between family and the concept of self worth, but their research is often interrupted by requests from the MDDS. One project from those scientists has been given priority. A project originally designed to boost morale by giving a Druinte anything it could ever ask for, anything that it could imagine. It was originally proposed to the MDDS by an old Druinte named Belfrat who had been concerned about ways to make Druintes happy for a long time. Belfrat pitched it as a way to increase productivity and it could eventually be used in construction and engineering once the technology was perfected.

Belfrat was allowed to start work on a prototype based on his theories of the manipulation of dark matter and dark energy. Belfrat was convinced that dark matter could be activated and used to create tangible matter, if exposed to the right conditions. Belfrat was allowed to test his theories of dark matter manipulation and it seems that maybe he has finally happened on something. Something that will change the course of both Druinte and Earth history forever.
