VI. (Interlude – the splash back)
When today comes to an end, it will be late into the night and Emma will be immersed in a project that involves her dirty mop and a bottle of water tinted bright yellow with food coloring. She will remove the cloth end of the mop and fashion it into a dog with one of its hind legs up. This dog will be positioned on a table top lined with white carpet that will record the splash from the steady stream of the water that will fall from a black box positioned so that the angle of the stream matches the angle of the dog’s urine were it actually relieving itself. The box is configured to look as if it is hovering over the dog that will eventually be soggy and stained yellow; the carpet will collect spots of the yellow water as evidence that the dog has not had a chance to relieve itself.
