10. Anes and Anat

When the copulating ball of Anes’s parents crash landed on an asteroid that was moving through space, their daughter Anat lost her grip on her mother and went flying off into space. She had been born at the same time as Anes, but she held on to her parents for as long as she could, and when she tumbled away from them, she was unknowingly flung in the same direction as her sister. They ended up on Quinspace Earth.

The two were very different in their lives. They were both spiders, and cunning by nature, but Anat cared about the beings she interacted with in a way that Anes had shown herself incapable. There was nothing more important to Anes than the satisfaction of her own desires and Anat often felt that her sister took advantage of their relationship.

Anat drifted away from her sister, and she eventually interacted with other Quinspace spiders less and less. She made friends of other beings and eventually she met a being with horns that she knew was from the stiff world. She had heard stories about stiff world beings who moved through the Quinspace and she had feared them in her youth, but as she grew older and more skeptical of her sister, who had told her many stories of stiff world being, she was more prone to interaction with them.

The being she met was nice and they mostly exchanged stories of their experiences. And then the stiff being told her about the fate of her sister, how she would lose her powers and they would eventually come to power beings of the stiff who would save the universe. She believed it because the stiff being took Anat to her home planet, and then to Quinspace Pluto, to a secret base where she explained the significance of cooperation between beings of their two worlds.

Anat returned to Earth and she watched her sister, and she knew that Anes was undeserving of her great powers because she hurt so many others at the expense of her own happiness. And then the red energy appeared in the Quinspace and many beings were depowered, and Anes bound her powers together with her most hated foe, Koyu, to keep them safe in the stiff world. Anat saw how this power changed two beings in the stiff world and how they served the world. They seemed much more deserving.

When Anes plotted to retrieve her powers, Anat was always there to undermine her effort.

When Ivan and Clay were born, Anat felt their energies emerge into the world and she found them. She curled up next to Clay as he slept; he was warm and didn’t fuss as much as Ivan, and she knew that he was the stiff world being that her sister’s powers were made for.

The day that Clay was shot in his backyard, Anat was there and she imbued the wild stiff world spiders with her energies to enter Clay’s bodies and repair it.

She has enjoyed the purpose of her existence since her first interaction with the stiff world beings who moved through the Quinspace. She often thought about the good times of her youth and she missed her sisters.

When they were still young spiders existing on Earth, the two became friends even though they were unaware of their relation to one another. Anes liked that Anat was meek and listened to her every word without interruption, and Anat liked the companionship.

One day, Anes grabbed Anat with two of her arms and held her close.

“I won’t exist in a world without you, sister. If you die, let me die as well.”

Anat was so touched that she said the same, and their love brought the pact to life.

When the Tsuchigumo spider that had inhabited the body of a woman named Falon in Tennessee, made its way back to Anes, it did not arrive as she expected. The spider had been enchanted by Tsuchigumo and gifted to Anes by the great Anansi, who meant to help her finally regain control of her powers from Ivan and Clay. The Tsuchigumo spider had succeeded, Anes had felt it, the energy was free of the stiff world beings, but very soon after it had been freed from the stiff beings, it was taken by something else that quickly appeared before Anes.

“Sister!” Anes said excitedly! They were in the home of the drug dealer/purveyor of prostitution, Jamar, as he played hide and seek with his son. Jamar had been given the Inktomi spider and he had enacted the majority of Anes’s plan that had seemed to succeed.

“You have my powers!” Anes said as the fiery green form of her sister Anat stood before her. “I have not seen you in so long and you show up with the best gift a spider could ask for.”

Anat shook her head. “I have come to say goodbye sister. I hear you have made a deal with Anansi, and the price you paid was your life in the event of failure. I’m afraid you have failed.”

“Give me my powers sister!” Anes yelled. “Why would you steal from me?”

“Because you have your Gods who intervene for you, and the stiff world beings have theirs. Today, theirs are triumphant.”

“You will only doom yourself!” Anes said desperately and she began to pursue Anat. She fled without taking her eyes from Anes and she was always just out of reach.

“It was a good life sister. I love you.”

Anat disappeared in a steak of fire and Anes knew that she could not catch up. She landed on the ground and screamed with all of herself. She collapsed on the ground, and when Anansi eventually found her there, he squished her out of existence.
