The PRL Event: Darker Resurrection 2
Despite the plans for God that the informal governing body of the social Druintes had for erim, God had plans of eris own that would soon come to fruition. God knows that the extensive tests will reveal eris blasphemy, the extensive tinkering with eris DNA that e had done over the many rounts of eris life, and it is likely that e will receive further punishment for eris actions, punishment that even Falstraq would not be willing to alleviate. What e hoped was to garner whatever favor e could from eris captor, the scientist Pegraf who was the head of the Lead Scientist’s secret Druinte experimentation program that was studying God for eris resemblance to the legendary Plenary. God could not have hoped for a better scientist to conduct the grueling and gruesome research on eris body, for Pegraf is not your average Druinte, e is socially inclined but in disguise, working to further the aims of the informal governing body of social Druintes who had been forced to integrate with mainstream society. They view God as a step towards the mass migration of social Druintes off of the planet Druont, and Pegraf knows that this requires that e spring God from captivity so that e can begin the real work.
But all of that is for naught, because if God ever produces future iterations, they will likely be born with life threatening birth defects that will make their lives tortuous. Whatever savior God signified to the informal governing body of social druintes was misguided because God is a fraud. Pegraf had been awed by the work, by the test results, and e had been hasty in eris assessments, wanting to believe that God was as extraordinary as e seemed over the course of their time together. E had fallen victim to God’s charm, a survival tactic that did not work on every Druinte, just the social ones with the capacity for empathy.
“What will they do with me?” God asked Pegraf on what would be the last day of their time together. No one else was in the lab, the other subjects had died the night before and no new ones have been assigned to take their place. This was not like the Lead Scientist, there were usually at least three patients under Pegraf’s care that were quickly replaced in the event of their deaths.
“What would you have them do with you?” Pegraf asked. E was ready to tell God about eris social affiliations then and e hoped that the two of them could devise a way to make an escape that would mean that they would have to leave the planet Druont forever. Pegraf believed they could develop something from God’s DNA that they could send back to the social Druintes that would allow them to leave the planet and wander long enough in space to find a new home. It was a sketchy plan, as sketchy as the governing body that concocted it in a panic many rounts ago in the city of Changuzi when the integration of the social drunites into mainstream society seemed imminent.
“I would have them leave us to our own devices,” God said with a chuckle and e stared into Pegraf’s eyes. Did e know the effect e was having on Pegraf? E must have known how effective it all was, and that Pegraf wanted something more for erim than the torture of the secret tests. E must have been working to secure a future outside of those confines.
Just then, the Lead Scientist arrived and e was very angry.
“I cannot say if you are working together, or if this whole endeavor has been my opportunity to see that Pegraf is ill equipped for the work trusted to erim, but regardless of what has brought us to this point, I am here now to end all of this. The two of you should thank Falstraq that you will not meet the fiery fate that I would be delighted to personally execute, it is eris mercy that is the reason you will be allowed to live out the rest of your days in the Banned Regions. If you are not off of this planet by the mid-day eclipse tomorrow, I will personally execute you. And do not speak to anyone, I will be watching.”
The Lead Scientist left the room and Pegraf looked to God in a panic.
“E must know!” they both said to each other, and then they both explained what they thought the Lead Scientist was aware of, and they both realized that it was likely God’s secret that the Lead Scientist was reacting to.
“So you are not the New Plenary?” Pegraf asked, obviously disappointed.
“I am the one and only God, that’s still something isn’t it? And we get to leave, together.”
Pegraf wished that e could contact the informal governing body, but the Lead Scientist had been clear in eris instructions. E could not be sentimental for that past though, e had to make a future for erimself with God in the Banned Regions.
Before Pegraf 7, there were others. There were other scientists in charge of the secret projects commissioned by the Lead Scientist of the MDDS of their time and they are the unsung heroes of Druinte history.
Among them is the inventor of the rejuvenation serum that is employed by the Hall of Biological Sciences to assist in the recovery of sick or injured Druintes. This serum is misted onto every patient admitted for treatment at the Hall and it is proven to assist in the effectiveness of all medical remedies for any malady. It is widely known that the serum works to encourage the growth of healthy tissue both inside and outside of the Druinte body, but the serum is never used as a treatment on its own.
Contrary to common knowledge, the serum was developed to test the regenerative properties of the substance that forms its essence. Druintes posses the technology to rapidly heal damaged tissue, and this is helpful in curing burns and other wounds, but in the event of amputation, Druintes rely on highly sophisticated artificial limbs. The scientist in charge of the secret program discovered what appeared to be a miraculous stem cell that could not only grow to become any tissue that it was programmed to become, it could reverse engineer tissue all on its own by studying a bone, skin fragments, or other bodily tissue. This universal stem cell seemed to have the capacity to learn and adapt, and it took terrible torture for it to be discovered.
It was discovered in the Plenary, the genetically superior Druinte who refused to produce future iterations and shunned cooperation with the MDDS that was still a young organization then. The lead scientist of the time observed that Plenary could heal from any wound, no matter how deep or traumatic, and the head of the secret program discreetly studied eris DNA, until it was determined that Plenary was unique. E was abducted and held in a secret prison where eris limbs were amputated to test the theory that they would regrow on their own, and sure enough, after rounts screaming in pain, Plenary’s limbs would regenerate. Plenary was able to regenerate an entirely new body if eris head was severed from the old one, and the head of the secret program was determined to find out why this was not a common feature in other Druintes. After mapping eris DNA, it was determined that Plenary had genetic material that was not strictly Druinte. E was mixed with a different kind of Druinte, the secret program head assumed, one that had existed long ago and died out on the planet.
The secret program head grew many versions of Plenary that would have been considered an abomination to the average Druinte who views durine experimentation as cruel and never justified. The versions of Plenary that sprouted new heads from eris severed limbs did not seem to have a fully functioning consciousness and the scientist was able to prove that Plenary could control the severed parts of erimself with concentration.
The scientist took detailed notes that still exist on Druinte today and e detailed the manufacture of the rejuvenating serum from the tortured remains of Plenary that still exists, known only to the Lead Scientist.
Duraq 33 reviewed the work of Pegraf, the notes from the God tests that seemed to suggest the emergence of a New Plenary. Duraq could see why Pegraf had been so enthusiastic, the superficial review of the various lab results and assessments showed much of what early notes from the Plenary tests showed. God was able to endure wounds that proved life threatening to other Druintes and e could endure days separated from eris limbs that always reattached easily with little recovery time. And e was younger than e seemed to be, though when Duraq really examined the work, it was clear that someone had tampered with God’s genes to produce artificial aging in certain parts of eris body. It took Duraq a little while to discover that God was a fraud and e must have experimented on erimself.
Duraq had been hasty; the God clones would prove to be worthless and e had already started so many. Duraq destroyed them personally, then e went to Pegraf’s lab to deal with the fraud in person. But when e saw God with Pegraf, Duraq remembered eris promise to Falstraq. E would banish erim to the banned in exchange for Falstraq’s close cooperation in the future.
