Issue 11, Vol. II – November 17, 2016

Time to Read:

4–6 minutes

Yep, here we are again, spamming your email or notifications or whatever. It’s cold outside, and we’ve got something for you to read while you sip hot chocolate and watch the leaves fall.

So, it’s been a couple weeks since I got my tooth pulled and things are healing nicely. I’m eating like normal again, though I can’t really chew on the right side of my mouth because it freaks me out to feel food in that space. Pain is a crazy thing. When I was experiencing it, it was all I could feel and all that I could think about. But now that it’s gone, I can’t remember it exactly, only that it was unpleasant. It’s strange that my tooth hurt so much that I was being an asshole at work and couldn’t eat for days. It’s like that story about the mouse and the lion, when the mouse pulls the thorn out of his paw and it changes his whole demeanor. I’m still pretty crabby, but I feel bad about it now. The best part about the whole ordeal is that my dentist is really attractive. She looks like the actress that plays Mockingbird on Agents of Shield. They are so nice at the office too and they gave me a Dunkin Doughnuts gift card that I am going to devour as chocolate munchkins.

But enough of all that. It’s Issue 11 folks. It’s been a long time coming so I’ll shut up and let you get to it. We’ll have Issue 12 for you very soon, I promise.

Wow, things are getting crazy in the basement, huh? That’s why honesty is so important in teamwork. It really helps when working in teams.

Made in America (Series 1): “Donna Moss loves a good textbook. It can be any subject, as long as it is more than 400 pages, has a multipage index, chapters with subheadings. It can be hard to trace an affinity back to it’s source, but for Moss, it is most likely the fact that her parents are professors and she used textbooks as toys in her youth. Of course the attraction becomes more intimate with age; as she grew older, Moss found that she preferred reading to most other activities because it expanded her understanding of her own existence. She liked to know things that others did not and she liked to share information with people. She wanted to become a doctor when she understood that they put knowledge of the human body to such practical use that they were known to resurrect the dead. ”

Do you value comfort over justice? I do usually. Well, I don’t, I like to think that I would sacrifice my own comfort for goodness’ sake. But in reality, who knows? Kevin is a different man; it helps that he has an awesome partner.

The Magician (Amazing Elroy, The Magician Bk. 1): “Anish has worked for the CIA for many years. She originally moved to Seattle just out of university and she was recruited by the CIA to help with covert operations in conjunction with a Canadian agency. She agreed to help because the case involved the sex trafficking of native minors and she was eager to help put a stop to it.”

Old Man Young decides that it’s time to get some answers. And he’s cracking his whip all the way to Memphis.

Old Man Young and the Bronx Avenger: “Detective Young enters the Knoxville Police Department with a frown on his face. He is mad, he is frustrated and it has been a very long time since he has been able to close a case. All of the officers in his department are scrambling to gather as much information about the numerous recent murders in the city, and all of the evidence that he sees points to a biker gang that operates out of Memphis.”

This guy! I swear. I told you he was going to do something shitty. What?! This week is a letter he wrote to Beatriz after he walked away from her? Oh, this is gonna be good.

The Black Side of Paradise: “All I can do is thank you immensely for what you have done for me, helping me grow and become a better person. I think back on all the conversations we had and I know that the time we spent together was much more valuable than any of the shit I learning in my stupid classes. You know the world the way I do. It was never nice to you and you do not trust any of it. Part of me is sad that things have been so hard for you, but another part is happy that our winding roads crossed and I realize that without you I would be something very different today. ”

Another two for one! Rebel Max is on the case and he is having second thoughts as he seeks to discover once and for all if…

V.I.V is Real Part 9 and Part 10: “I had never heard of the Southern Conference of Journalists when Charles told me about it, but apparently they got together every year to discuss the state of journalism in the south. It was an annual event where organizers congratulated excellence in journalism. I wondered if it meant that VIV was a bona fide journalist or a professional writer. And when I researched the conference, I got worried that I would have trouble accessing it without credentials. Even if I were lucky enough to get inside, finding VIV would be like finding a needle in a haystack.”
