Hello, hello, hello. That’s 3 helloes because they say the third time’s the charm. That has not been my personal experience, but whatever, I’ll just go with it.
So we are here at Issue 9 of Vol. II and we are closing in on the end. I hope you stay with us as we wrap up the final three issues and put a bow on Vol. II. We will finish up before Thanksgiving because I have a lot of cooking and drinking to do. Maybe not so much drinking, but saying that I’m going to be drinking makes me sound cool and what is more important than the illusion of cool? Nothing.
I won’t bore you with topical rants. I’m sure you all watch the news. Enjoy the issue and meet us back here very soon for Issue 10.

Cousins is teetering on the edge of a break. He is filled with doubts about his current position and everyday things happen that seem to undermine his experience. Is he almost at his breaking point?
Made in America (Series 1): “Dr. Eakran’s office in the IBF basement is an impressive space. His desk is almost regal and when he sits behind it, he is an imposing figure. The door to the office has a series of complicated locks that are only engaged when he is alone inside. The two big windows of the office have blinds for privacy, but when the locks on the door are engaged, heavy duty metal sheets drop down to seal them completely. It is a sort of panic room that has never been used for that purpose, though Eakran insisted on these measures for that reason. His office is the most secure part of the basement, which requires strict security protocols to access.”

Kevin has finally tasted success and he will do anything to maintain that. Even if it means walling out the rest of the world.
The Magician (Amazing Elroy, The Magician Bk. 1): “Kevin thinks to himself that a person with the ability to read minds could be dangerous as a tool of the government. Privacy concerns are a huge deal in a present where the internet is so ubiquitous. But issues of privacy take a back seat in matters of security, Kevin reassures himself. There is no need to protect the privacy of anyone with intentions that would put a large number of people in danger.”

The players are moving and converging as the Bronx Avenger comes face to face with the old man himself.
Old Man Young and the Bronx Avenger: “Sonny had little luck in his hometown finding reliable information that he could use to track down Fire, but he learns that Fire lives in Knoxville and he decides that it’s best to just go rather than make any more ruckus that would reach Fire before he can get there. Sonny is grappling with a lot as he makes his way west. He had probably killed a childhood friend and his mother was mad at him for leaving so abruptly, but he had traveled all this way for a very specific reason and he would not let that cause die. ”

There is a fine, almost invisible line between healthy faith and unhealthy delusion. Is there a cure for unhealthy delusion?
Eakran’s Experiments (One-Shots): “There is a patient in the basement by the name of Gerry Caudle who has suffered from realistic delusions for much of his life. He was referred to the IBF because of the increasing interference the delusions have had on his life. Eakran agreed to treat Gerry because of the nature of his delusions. At no point over the course of his life has Gerry ever had fantastical delusions, he has only over managed to misunderstand his reality and to draw the wrong conclusions from the truth. Eakran wonders if Gerry’s delusions are the result of his inability to understand the world as others do and he has his assistant doctor, Federick Cousins work with Gerry to understand the man’s misunderstandings about his reality.”

The man who would change his name many times has done so again, and can I say that his current name is my least favorite?
The Black Side of Paradise: “Aldous loved his new name. And he loved that other people judged him for using such a pompous sounding name that was so obviously a rip off of the writer Aldous Huxley. But he was in college and it was easy for him to adopt a new persona in a new city. Even though he had lived much of his life as a ward of the state, Aldous had worked extremely hard to ensure that he would be able to attend the most premier university in the country.”

The war continues. Which shield will you choose?
Shield Wars 1: Free Radicals: “Amalgam of European, in the States/ Their history is worlds away, removed/ From forefathers and cultural context/ To something new under red white and blue”
