Common Laws of the Fonlands
The Will of the Mother-Father is the overriding rule of law in the Fonlands, and every other rule or customer that is written or enforced by the courts is considered Common Law. Common Laws have been collected in the Book of Definitions and Names, also known as the Gold, which also includes detailed descriptions of virtually all permutations of the use of Divine Essence or Divine Magic, which is magic bestowed by the Vodun and the Mother-Father.
Courts of the Disc of Xêvioso
There are three major courts on the Disc of Xêvioso. The High Court of Fierce Justice is located in the Golden Basilica where the Greatest Warrior golden statue stands before the entrance. There are 80,000 Golden Executioners who are born from the Greatest Warrior golden statue. The High Court of Material Management is located in the Ivory Basilica where the Ivory replica of the Greatest Warrior statue stands before the entrance. The High Court of Common Dispute is located in the Terracotta Basilica where the Terracotta replica of the Greatest Warrior statue is located. There are 40,000 each of the Ivory and Terracotta Executioners born from Ivory and Terracotta replicas of the Greatest Warrior statue.
Lions
Lions are a prominent kin of the Disc of Xêvioso that originated in the overlap with the Disc of Gu. There is a larger population of Lions on the Disc of Xêvioso and among them is the Lightning Warrior Shango. Many Fonlanders view the lions as the good version of the leopards of the Disc of Lêgba, some of which exist in the overlap between the Discs. Historically, though hBe been more leopard justices than lion in the courts of Xêvioso’s Disc.
Pure Pattern
The pure Pattern is the manifestation of the Pattern as a grid of golden line over existence that is only visible to those attuned to its power. The pure Pattern is the source of Pattern magic, though the magic that results from the pure Pattern is visible to those who do not wield it. Some have described the pure Pattern as the fundamental structure of all reality and it has been the subject of extensive study on the Disc of Xêvioso where there is the highest concentration of Fonlanders who are able to see the pure Pattern.
Will of the Mother-Father
As the creators of the Fonlands, every Fonlander born from the Discs defers to the Mother-Father for rules and laws that govern their existence. Because the Mother-Father is not known to interact with Fonlanders regularly, it is not possible to get their opinion on everything that occurs in the Fonlands. It is accepted by every Fonlander, though, that things that are allowed to exist or occurrences that are allowed to happen, or vice versa, beings removed from the Fonlands through death or banishment or occurrences disrupted by natural forces not directly caused by a Fonlander, things occur according to the Will of the Mother-Father. The Will means that nothing in the Fonlands is there by accident, and the Fonlands are a reflection of the desires of the Mother-Father.
