In the universe that the Smiting Chamber has designated 2VI1, there is a planet known as Bromeran that is populated by the Bromeris, a hyper-intelligent species that is not only the dominant species of the planet, but of the entire Nexus galaxy. The Bromeris as a race traces its origins to a planet known as Wiis that is located in the Nexus galaxy, but the Bromeris haven’t inhabited the planet for generations. Wiis is an incubation planet where Bromeris scientists design new species and monitor their growth before they are evaluated by the Cradle of Scientific Advancement to determine if they will be assigned a homeworld to expand the Cradle’s influence in the universe. The Bromeris have seeded many planets within the Nexus galaxy with life that has evolved over much time to produce races of sentient beings who view the Bromeris as their gods. These races offer tribute to their gods in the form of resources mined on their worlds that further Bromeris research.

The Bromeris have been engineers of sentience for a long time. The planet Wiis where the Bromeris originated, was also home to two other races of sentient beings known as the Hafjeris, humanoids with avian features, and the Rhadswiis, humanoids very similar to the now extinct Earthers. The Bromeris chose the Rhadswiis as test subjects after determining that the species was further along in its evolutionary development than the Hafjeris who were mostly treated as super intelligent pets. The Bromeris have experimented on the Rhadswiis since before they established Bromeran.

The first Rhadswiis of Wiis had reddish skin tones that existed from pale to dark. The species was known as femina cogitandi to Bromeris scientists; the name was derived from Earther nomenclature that the Bromeris learned from salvaged notes taken after the Universal Genetics Wars and Earthers were eradicated as a species as decreed by the Interstellar Judiciary for their crimes against nature. Experimentation on the Rhadswiis was done to produce the military that protected the planet Bromeran. After millennia of genetic experimentation and selective breeding, there are only three remaining Rhadswiis left in the entirety of the universe, but they are the most powerful beings in all the universe. Each remaining Rhadswiis is the culmination of the evolution of the three branches of femina cogitandi that were created on Wiis and refined over long years. The last three femina cogitandi outlived their species that died off when a Bromeris-manufactured plague swept over Wiis and even managed to spread to Bromeran. There were minimal Bromeris casualties.

The three remaining femina cogitandi are fiercely loyal to their Bromeris handlers and they have defended the planet Bromeran as its military since the extinction of their race. Bromeran has never been attacked and any threat to the world illicits swift investigation and retaliation, often including intense torture or even death.

femina excelsis

“You should kill it,” Volantes said coldly as she put on her pants. They fit tightly to her muscular thighs and she had to jump to get them completely on, making her bright red breasts jiggle slightly despite the firm muscle there. She put both hands on her hips and stared at Excelsis with annoyance. She had long white hair that hung past her shoulders, but it was much thinner than Excelsis white hair that was as long but had more body.

“I made him,” Excelsis said, standing between her and her creation who was naked at her back. He had brown red skin that was darker than Excelsis’s pink skin tone. His dark, black hair was cit close to his scalp.

“So we just took turns fucking your son?” Volantes said.

“I’m not his mother,” Excelsis said with disgust. “I used male DNA I stole from the overseers and he’s been growing in a lab for years now, with accelerated physical and mental maturing. I’m not an animal.”

“And yet, we just took turns fucking him,” Volantes said with a devious smile. “Thanks for making the fuck puppet, it felt good to enjoy sexual pleasure with the long lost male Rhasdwiis. And as good as it was, you should kill it and just make another one for the next time. If the overseers find out, they will be angry that you stole from them and that you were conducting an unsanctioned experiment. There is nowhere to hide it on this ship, though, I am happy to keep it in my quarters until you are found out.”

“You talk about him like he isn’t thinking and feeling,” Excelsis said.

“You offered him up to me that way. I know you are sore that I ended our regular sexual encounters and this was your attempt to bring that spark back. It was fun to see you go at him…”

“Please stop,” the male said. He was tall, but shorter than the females by half a foot. He was muscular like a body builder with large hands and feet, and his manhood dangled between his legs. “I don’t mean to tell you two what to do, I just don’t want to die. And if the Sir Volantes would like to be pleasured in her quarters, I can see that it happens thoroughly and regularly.” He bowed. “I am a Rhasdwiis male, made at the pleasure of the Rhasdwiis female and you are the only ones left. I can be nothing without you, and I do not want to lose either of your favor. Please, do with me what you will, but let me live. I am more valuable to you both alive…”

The male stopped suddenly and fell to the floor. His brown red skin suddenly turned ashen, like the life had been completely drained from him in an instant. Before Excelsis could yell at Volantes, Tenebris appeared as a wisp of smoke that instantly exploded into her large form. Her skin was a deep, dark red and her hair was dark to match.

“Why did you do that!” Excelsis yelled. “He was mine!”

“He would have brought punishment to all of us,” Tenebris said in her husky voice that was almost hoarse, but was definitely intimidating. “You could not have kept him hidden. You are the smartest of us, Excelsis, but your intelligence will get us killed. Promise me you will not make another.”

“There’s no reason why we should be the last of Rhasdwiis,” Excelsis said. “That male could have carried children for all of us and we could make a generation of the strongest warriors this universe has ever known. And we wouldn’t need overseers…”

Volantes smacked the words out of Excelsis’s mouth and drew blood.

“You are too careless,” Volantes said.

“Listen to your lover, Excelsis,” Tenebris said. “We only exist because of our benefactors. And listen to me, say it now that you have learned your lesson and will not try this again.”

Excelsis was not happy, but she realized that Tenebris had only appeared because the overseers were aware of what she had done and they sent Tenebris to ensure that she could keep her in line without the need of harsher punishment.

“I have learned my lesson.”

“You didn’t need to strike her so hard,” Tenebris said to Volantes when the two were having a late meal together. They lived on a spaceship the size of a country in Bromeran orbit that allowed them to monitor for and respond to threats anywhere on the planet, while also being in space to intercept any hostile visitors to the planet.

“We had to sell it, or who knows what they would have done to her,” Volantes said. They spoke in muted tones, even in the large cafeteria where the other members of the Femina security force who lived on the ship took their meals. The members of Femina were hand-selected by the Rhasdwiis to join them in their efforts to protect Bromeran and included a few Bromeris, a large number of Hafjeris foot soldiers, and species of other planets seeded by the Cradle.

“I am glad to know that she has achieved success in creating a Rhasdwiis male,” Tenebris said, “I only regret that they found out so quickly. I’m sure it was the crazy sounds coming from your quarters.”

“He was perfect, Tenebris, you would have loved him. So eager to please. I need one of those to go home to after a long day of battle to kiss my sore spots. Who knows if he could keep my quarters clean, I had him horizontal for most of his conscious existence, but he was a very good boy.”

“If you know your love, then you know she will try to bring him back to life. Do what you can to keep it hidden for as long as possible and if she succeeds, don’t fuck it on the ship. They had no idea until you two were indisposed for so long. We can’t compromise our plans, Volantes. We are so close to freedom.”

Volantes nodded.

“You are the key to this,” Tenebris continued. “They always underestimate you, you are their angel of death and you are effective. They think you are only a death dealer, but we would not be this far without our minds together. Excelsis is the key to our future, though, and you must protect her. She can hold her own against any being of this universe, but she gets lost in her ideas. Make sure that she doesn’t lose herself and betray us to the overseers. We are so close.”

“We will succeed, we should not be weapons of the Bromeris. They should belong to us, begging for their lives.”

“And they will, Volantes, they will.”

The War for Wiis was a quiet conflict. Tenebris was the perfect soldier to the Bromeris and she was praised for her command of the Femina, while waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike at her overseers.

She made a secret pact with a Hafjeris leader called Rusa who harbored resentments against the Bromeris for their treatment of the Hafjeris as pets and a second class species.

“We are ready to have a planet of our own,” Rusa said to Tenebris early in their plotting. “The Bromeris will never give it to us, they think we are nothing without them, or they are so insecure that they cannot imagine themselves without us sleeping in their houses and raising their children.”

“We will personally escort you all to any planet you desire to make your homeworld,” Tenebris promised. “We can easily best the entirety of the Bromeris race, just the three of us, we only require your assistance to disarm their weapons and leave them vulnerable. We hope to bring them to heel quickly, we prefer surrender over genocide. If things draw on too long, I am liable to get lost in my rage and the genocide will be unavoidable.”

“Everything is in order, Sir Tenebris,” Rusa said. “What will you do with the Bromeris if you can avoid the mass slaughter?”

“We will confine them to Bromeran and restore Wiis to what it was. I am sure to reduce their population by more than half, even if they surrender. My rage must be sated and they have much to pay for. My mercy is allowing them to continue their scientific research to the benefit of the Rhasdwiis and other civilizations from the Cradle. The Hafjeris will always enjoy the protection of the Rhasdwiis for your assistance now. We are forever sister races,” Tenebris said and she embraced Rusa who hugged her awkwardly. Tenebris is beautiful in the striking nature of her body that is an exaggeration of the female form, stretched to just enough to avoid the grotesque, and her skin is darkbred, slick and always cool to the touch.

“I hope that this goes quickly,” Rusa said, and his hopes were destiny. The Bromeris, for all of their intelligence and expertly crafted weapons, were no match for the collective of femina cogitandi who were the pinnacle of Bromeris science and Rhasdwiis evolution.

Tenebris claimed the rainforests of Wiis, Volantes the mountains, and Excelsis the lowlands. Excelcis made forty males for each of them and each had hundreds of children who became the first generation of the new population of Wiis.

Long after their conflict that tamed the Bromeris and brought all Cradle civilizations under the rule of Wiis, when there were fourth and fifth generations of Rhasdwiis and the three founders were approaching middle age, Tenebris, Volantes and Excelsis maintained peace among the disparate races of Rhasdwiis. Even if they were all one species, it was impossible to prevent the difference between them from causing conflicts that the three rulers would mediate to a peaceful end. But conflict is unavoidable and Tenebris was with Volantes on the highest mountain peak trying to negotiate an end to hostilities between the mountain dwellers and the lowlanders who feuded over territory, when Tenebris heard a voice in her mind and excused herself. Tenebris disappeared in a whiff of smoke and reappeared at the foot of the large mountain in a patch of trees that was empty except for her.

Tenebris listened to the voice gravely, then insisted that she be taken right away to wherever the voice needed her to be.

Nothing she sees in the Shifting Planes is so strange that she forgets why she was so eager to lend her power to this fight. Even the red warrior called Djallon with horns on her head and an impressive suit of armor isn’t strange and the two of them become fast friends before they head into a magical portal to yet another universe. Moving between realities is strange, but Tenebris bears it. She understands the urgency of the situation and she is eager to let go of her rage. Nothing would threaten the existence that she fought with all of herself to make.

The universe that they enter is unlike her own, but they arrive on a planet called Eel that she recognizes from her home universe. The many forces that accompanied her to this new universe are greeted by a bipedal rodent that welcomes them to the plateau of what he calls the Kazi Dojo. Tenebris had never traveled to Eel in her home universe, but she had heard of the Kazi Dojo and it is a wonder to see the famed Red Mountains of Eel.

“I like the color of this place,” Djallon jokes as she leaves Tenebris to join the other commanders of the forces that includes winged beings and a being with a shell on its back and large weapon strapped to it.

She regrets not telling Volantes that she was leaving, there is no way to know how long this will take, or what time they will send her back to.
