Lêgba is hopeful after meeting the beings in the Smiting Chamber and he summons Xêvisoso, Jo, and Gu to his opaque castle.
“Are we ready for the Smiting game?” Jo asks after she steps through the white portal that disappears after her. “I think I have added some strong things to my deck that will work in tandem to oppose the worst of the Doom deck. Where are Gu and Xêvisoso? I think we can sync across all our decks before we start the exhibition.”
“I think they are on the way,” Lêgba says. “I have some news before we sit down to the game. News that should drastically improve our chances. I was in the Smiting Chamber and it turns out Yana and Owuo are aware of the Pito, the warriors from the Doom Deck, and they have been successfully holding them off. There are beings that can best the Pito.”
“Like who?” Jo asks with skepticism, and Xêvisoso steps through a yellow portal that closes behind him.
“I understand that Xêvisoso is aware of Zacchaeus and the Needy,” Lêgba says as he waves to Xêvisoso.
“I am,” he says. “What about Zacchaeus and the Needy?”
“Apparently he has bested these Pito,” Jo says. “The Pito have already arrived in the other realm for this Zacchaeus to face them?”
“The Pito are in the other realm?” Xêvisoso asks with concern. “I thought that we had time before we had to face them.”
“We do,” Lêgba explains as Gu arrives through a red portal that closes behind him.
“Do what?” Gu asks.
“We have more time,” Lêgba says. “Yana and Owuo have assembled a team of beings from more than one universe and they have had success on Bludon.”
“I heard Owuo killed every Bludonian on the planet,” Gu said. “Whatever team you are speaking of is probably dead too.”
“He killed all of the Bludonians infected with the Pito,” Lêgba said with a smile. “If we add Owuo to the game, then we know that he can clear the Pito from the grid. And since you already have Zacchaeus and the Needy, I think that we should make a strong showing.”
“So those are the only cards that we need to defeat the Doom Deck?” Jo asks. “Let’s see it then.” Jo is a little upset that Lêgba has no interest in seeing how she has beefed up her deck.
“We can review the struggles of Zacchaeus and the Outsiders on Bludon up to the point when Owuo killed the infected blues in the Smiting Chamber.”
“The Smiting Chamber!” Gu says with indignation. “That place that Sakpata created to monetize our game? We should collapse the thing. You know they have already added Owuo as a Veve card, right? Imagine, Owuo with a Veve? Like he is a Vodun or something.”
“Wait,” Lêgba says, “Owuo is already in the game?”
“There are purple Veves,” Jo says with a nod as she looks at Lêgba curiously.
“Who made Owuo a Vodun?” Lêgba asks.
“The Smiting Chamber did,” Jo says. “He was evaluated as having power on the level of the Vodun, mostly like thanks to his Death Magic.”
“We should have destroyed that place,” Gu says.
“Don’t be childish,” Xevioso says. “Owuo is practically a Vodun, he is the only Fonlander who is not a Vodun who was born from the Lofted Disc. I think that deserves respect. I think that we should go to the Smiting Chamber and see what has transpired.”
“I will not legitimize the Smiting Chamber,” Gu says defiantly. “Go if you must, summon me when we are ready to sit down for our game.”
“I think that will be a while,” Lêgba says to Gu. “There is a lot of new information we should all process…” but Gu left before he could finish the sentence.
“Don’t mind him,” Xêvisoso says. “I will go with you.”
“As will I,” Jo says.
“Excellent. I do believe that this Chamber should be a tool of the Vodun. Things that it has shown me and others there are astounding. It can show us the Pito ravaging a universe in real time.”
“Can it show us where they are coming from?” Jo asks.
“We will see,” Lêgba says. “There is cause for optimism, siblings. I see days of triumph in our future. I was so troubled when I came back to the Fonlands, but now I know that we will prevail. We must prevail. ”
