Welcome back! The serials are chugging along and the action is heating up. As the epic multiversal clash continues, it’s a good time to revisit serials from previous Volumes and Interim Shorts Periods. There are many allusions, references, even continuations of stories that we have been telling since Volume I that appear in this Volume, and you can use the many websites of the PRL Serials to find them, including the newly revamped PRL Serials website and the Encyclopedia of the Known Universe Vol. ∞

We will see you soon for Issue 4. Enjoy!

Node 5 Prime 5 Earth Year 2014

– – –

Maxx has a lot of plates in the air. He is happy to have the help of the Outsiders to deal with the new threats that have appeared, and there are Guardians he trusts to attend to the drama unfolding with the Ministry. Even if they want him dead, the criminal organizations and their leaders are big fans of the Guardians.

Gangland (Âmuk 1st Tel.): “In times of discord in Bludonian society, everyone can come together for the phase nights to celebrate the history that made their lives on Bludon possible. Even the heads of Bludon’s criminal organizations play a big role in phase night festivities during the later part of the solar cycle, equivalent to about a year on Earth. The majority of security deployed on Bludon is tasked with combating Daemon, so crime is a regular part of Bludonian life.”

The Needy makes a big play to stop Omega. Zacchaeus is turned inside out to put Omega in his place, and the team learns that the veil of Prime 5 is more than Issac realized it was.

Soliloquy (The Deft Hands of Zacchaeus 1st Tel.):I know this Omega better than it knows itself. I know its potential. In my universe, the Omega spoke to me from across the heavens and convinced me of the glory of its vision of existence. I see the folly in that now, but I was its trusted follower and it showed me its darkness, and this one isn’t quite so dark yet. Believe me Zacchaeus, we can do this.

Maria is seemingly in trouble. Sao-Reyne seems to think that she is merely fulfilling her destiny. Here’s hoping that Outer Spacetime is kind to her.

Best Mistake (Wazad of Outer-Spacetime 1st Tel): “The story of the first Wazad of universe Prime 5 is similar, but when he disappeared from his home world, he traveled to what has become known as Outer Spacetime, the veil existence that overlaps reality. It is exotic space, representing the potentials of the reality of Prime 5, and is heavily influenced by the psychic energy generated by beings of Prime 5 and Fonlanders who inhabit the universe.”

Node 4 Paradise Earth Year 4-1644

– – –

Lêgba looks for answers after the horrors he witnessed in the Node 3 universe. He knows someone with extensive knowledge of the multiverse and he travels to the Paradise universe, hoping that all of existence isn’t doomed.

euphoria (Finding Lêgba 1st Tel.): “‘There is something horrible draining existences of the multiverse, leaving them suspended and unable to complete their life cycles,’ Lêgba explains. ‘I saw the thing, or things, that are doing it. It is violent and bizarrely beautiful at the same time, like a spider’s web.’”

Node 1 Hyperion Earth Year 2024

– – –

The Alia is back, and this time, she’s Hyperion. She has changed the universe and ascended to a being of multiversal power that comes in handy when her friend, and frequent PRL Hero, Ivan Santana, detects an eerie absence from the Red universe. Check out last week’s issue of the Descendant to find out what happened there, and keep reading to find out what happens when Alia and Ivan go to investigate it.

Multiversal Family Tree : “Alia enjoys being in space. Her favorite is floating the void into random sections of the universe that only the Aeternus Machina had ever laid eyes on and its operators by complete chance. She can do this in her everyday clothes, sometimes she will wake up early on a Saturday morning, still in her sweats and a shirt that is so small that it bares her midriff, drink a cup of tea on the back porch next to Clay’s home gym equipment and leave the cup on the weight bench before she bends her knees slightly, then extends as a glitter of yellow-white cosmic energy wafts in the wake she leaves levitating from the ground and into the waning night.”

Une-verse, The Time of Union

– – –

Neubril and the Descendant have been very successful in their endeavors. They serve Une, who thinks that everything would benefit from serving her. She is always looking for new recruits, and she believes in rewards as incentive for hard work.

The Descendant: “Neubril buzzed with excitement as the Pito’s ship, the planet Pit, returned to their home. They had brought Une to many universes and Neubril wanted to see her mother enjoy the fruit of their labor. The Pito and the Descendant had worked hard across the multiverse to find universes that were ripe for the picking. Neubril had been tasked with finding worlds where the Descendent could spread the white webbing that was an extension of Une’s being, and she used the Pito to test the might of the beings of the universe. If the Pito were met with resistance in their attempts to raze the sentience of a universe, then the Descendent assessed if their presence could swing things favorably, or if they should abandon the endeavor altogether.”
