Maxx isn’t the leader of Bludon, even if he is a powerhouse and the majority of the Guardians swore loyalty to him after the Ministers’ controls over them were destroyed, the Ministers do still exist as the elected representatives of the blues tasked with keeping order to foster a stable society for the average families and individuals who called Bludon home, and those Ministers still have Guardians loyal to them, including a majority of the R models and many of the T models.
All models of Bludonian Guardians, X, Q, R, and T, have four classes. The X models were the first developed on Bludon and four prototypes for X models were eventually produced. The first Guardian of Bludon was a 1X model, and according to popular opinion, the design was perfected in the 2X model. The 1st and 2nd classes of each Guardian model have a similar appearance, sturdier and taller than normal blues, but the 1st classes have more mechanical parts that change and camouflaged into the body, like wrist blasters and the pulsors that can grow instantly from the ankles. The 2nd class do not have these types of body modifications but are built solidly with mechanical enhancements in the bones and joints and other less obvious places. Both classes are more organic than mechanical.
The mind of a Bludonian Guardian is a combination of the natural biological design of Bludonian brains and a super advanced computer that is capable of near infinite storage and a retrieval speed that approaches light speed. The 2nd class of Bludonian X models were designed to optimize the lean, a chemical that causes intoxication in normal blues and is very strictly regulated on Bludon. Possession in the general population is punishable by death and lean is only handled by Minister-sanctioned scientists.
Q models are also optimized to use lean and are the only models able to fly without the use of electromagnetic energy or jet propulsion. The shells of Q models split down the middle and each side raises and parts to expose wings that allow Q models to zip around the sky. They are excellent at scanning the terrain and detecting the disturbances in reality that presage Daemon attacks.
T models are very similar to X models, but they are slightly larger and stronger, and do not utilize the lean unless they are in physical distress. There is an argument among the Ministers and their trusted scientist over the use of the lean. Some think that all Guardians should be able to freely use it and they point to the success of 2X models as evidence of the effectiveness, but some Ministers think that the overuse of the lean, even with the advanced minds of the Guardians, leads to unnecessary aggression and insubordination and they point to Maxx the Superguardian as evidence of this.
Maxx has always been a divisive topic among the ministers. His power put many on the planet at ease in the face of the terrifying appearances of the Daemon that wreaked havoc before the implementation of the Guardian program. Maxx is strong and reassures everyone that Bludon can triumph in the face of darkness, but he was impossible to control and many of the ministers predicted that he would make a move to take away the control that they had over the planet’s most valuable resource, the Guardians.
Minister Quy used to be a Guardian and is currently a Minister. She has always advocated for the Guardians to be able to exercise their free will. She watches the R models Guardians who stand guard at the entrance to the Ministers’ hall while the they gather to debate the current state of the planet. Quy is distracted, the sight of the R models stuck in their position of servitude makes her question her allegiances. Maxx had brought real freedom to the Guardians and they no longer answer to the Ministers; they are no longer conscripted soldiers. Even though she had retired as a Guardian after losing her left arm and leg, technically, she could have been compelled into duty at any moment before the controls were destroyed. She wonders if she is like these R models, so comfortable and used to serving the Ministers and the government of Bludon that they could not imagine a life that did not include it.
“We must eliminate the Superguardian!” Minister Penyu screams and it snaps Quy out of her thoughts. “He brought that foreign Queen here to stage a coup on this most sacred House.” Penyu is putting on a show for the cameras; this meeting is being broadcast for the citizens of Bludon. Soon after the termination of the Guardians controls, Penyu was blamed by the Ministers because he seemingly destroyed them under his own volition, but now, everyone is aware of the mental control of the Queen Rowen, though previously the Ministers had kept that secret from the public. Penyu vehemently blames the Queen Rowen and advocates for the arrest and execution of the Superguardian. Quy thinks it’s obvious he is overcompensating for his part in the whole thing, but he has managed to sway some of the Ministers and a portion of the public against Maxx and his strange visitor.
“He has endangered the lives of every single blu on this planet,” Penyu continues with the passion of a Minister giving a sermon. “We endangered the lives of every blu on this planet when we sent a representative to mingle with the degenerate races of this universe. Who knows what they do on that planet Oin and what that Queen wants from the humble, hard working blues of this glorious planet.”
Quy stares wide-eyed at Penyu, then at the gathering of Ministers who seemed to be favorable considering his words. She knows that she needs to talk to Maxx and she stands from her seat then leaves the hall in a hurry.
