GM: The DRs are here and will roll to determine the effectiveness of their participants’ attacks as the match unfolds. I have Gabriel and Kazi Ethrel with me now. I will let you both know when to roll, and whether it’s with privilege or not and any bonuses. Both of you roll 1D20 to see who attacks first.
Gabriel: Divine 1.
Belfrat 33: 2.
GM: Both Metatron and Maxx hesitate for just a moment that would be easy to miss to the untrained eye, as though both participants are unsure of their opponent’s power and have not decided if they should attack or play defense. Maxx has watched Metatron fight, and Hysteria supplied footage of the Melee for each participant of the Dance to review before the tournament started. He knows the moves that Metatron has displayed, mostly electricity based attacks, but Maxx has also figured that Metatron has not shown the full array of his abilities. Talk of Metatron around the universe says that he brandishes a mighty sword of golden fire, so it is possible that he is able to wield fire just as he does electricity. But Maxx figures that Metatron will try to use the tactics that have worked so far and he powers up the Superconscious and is surrounded by a golden glow as he levitates from the octagon.
Maxx: You have battled well, Metatron, but I have battled with good intent, and for the benefit of beings of my universe. I will be triumphant today.
Metatron: May the best of us stand in triumph at the conclusion of this Dance.
GM: Maxx extends his right hand and grabs his wrist with the left and he fires four large blasts of energy down at Metatron. Even if Metatron can absorb the electricity in the attack, the force of each blast will definitely do damage. Kazi Ethrel, roll Strength with privilege plus 21 for each attack. Gabriel, roll Agility with privilege plus 14 to see if you can dodge the blasts.
Gabriel: Divine 20 and 2. 7 and 9. 19 and 10, 8 and 18.
GM: That’s a Divine 20, 23, 33, and 32.
Kazi Ethrel: 12 and 18, 15 and 4, 11 and 7, 4 and 7.
GM: That’s 39, 36, 32, and 28.
Maxx hits Metatron with just one of his blasts. Ethrel, roll 1D20 plus 8d4 for Damage.
Kazi Ethrel: 27.
GM: Metatron’s Hit Points are currently 215.
Metatron takes one of the blasts and deftly maneuvers the octagon to dodge the others. He jumps and takes flight in the direction of Maxx, and his fist is armed to punch Maxx. Gabriel, give me a roll for Strength with privilege plus 7, and Ethrel, roll Agility with privilege plus 7.
Gabriel: 2 and 17.
GM: That is a 24 for Metatron’s attack.
Kazi Ethrel: 13 and 7.
GM: That is a 20 for Maxx.
Metraron flies fast enough to land a solid blow on Maxx’s cheek. Gabriel, roll 1D20 and 8D4 for Damage.
Gabriel: 33.
GM: Maxx’s Hit Points are currently 193.
Ethrel, give me a Resilience roll with privilege plus 7 to see how Maxx takes the blow.
Kazi Ethrel: 13 and 16.
GM: With a 23, Maxx counters immediately and he grabs Metatron with both of his hands that are enhanced by the energy around him. Maxx intends to use the technique that took Zazel out. His hands are big enough to grab Metatron, including his wings that are pressed against his back, and he is going to close both big golden fists on him, hoping to smash Metatron between his hands and then tighten and grind the hands for a second attack, before throwing Metatron to the ground for a third.
Kazi Ethrel, roll for Strength with privilege plus 21 in opposition to Gabriel’s roll for Agility with privilege plus 14. If the Kazi rolls higher, Maxx will then roll for the success of the tighten and grinding attack and then the throwing attack.
Gabriel: 13 and 3.
GM: That is a 27 for Metatron’s agility roll.
Kazi Ethrel: 4 and 17.
GM: That’s a 38 for Maxx’s Strength roll. Kazi Ethrel, roll two more times with privilege plus 21 for the next two attacks.
Kazi Ethrel: Divine 9 and 3. The second is 15 and 16.
GM: A 30 for the second attack and 37 for the third.
Maxx grabs Metatron with the large golden hands and the hands grind Metatron who grits his teeth against the pain, but doesn’t make a noise. Then he throws Metatron to the ground and with the potential that Metatron will land outside the octagon. Kazi Ethrel, roll 2D20 and 18D4 for Maxx’s Attack Bonus on two attacks. The highest possible Damage Maxx can do with this attack is a 112. If he rolls more than half of that, more than 56, Metatron will be knocked out of the octagon and will have to save to avoid falling out of bounds.
Kazi Ethrel: 71.
GM: Metatron’s Hit Points are currently 144.
Gabriel, give me a roll for Resilience, no privilege surprisingly, to see if Metatron saves from being thrown from the octagon.
Gabriel: Why no privilege?
GM: Metatron’s Resilience is 19. To get privilege on a roll, you have to have an attribute score of 21 or higher.
Gabriel: I see 19.
GM: With a 19, Metatron manages to recover before he is thrown completely from the octagon and he is able to launch an attack in response. Metatron flies at Maxx with his fists outstretched and he is hoping to punch Maxx twice and then get in a kick, so three Strength attacks. Metatron is trying to conserve his Essence for as long as possible to avoid the loss of Hit Points. Gabriel, roll for Strength with privilege plus 7. Ethrel, roll for Agility with privilege plus 7.
Gabriel: 18 and 17.
GM: That’s a 25.
Kazi Ethrel: 13 and 13.
GM: That’s a 20. Metatron lands the first blow. Roll again Gabriel, two rolls for Strength with privilege plus 7. Ethrel, two rolls for Agility with privilege plus 7.
Gabriel: 14 and 5. Then 12 and 9.
GM: 21 and 19 for Metatron.
Kazi Ethrel: Divine 1 and 3. And an 18 and 2.
GM: 10 and 25.
Metatron hits twice, misses the last shot and gives Maxx an opening he can take advantage of with a good Resilience roll. Gabriel, roll 2D10 and 16D4 for Damage. Ethrel, roll 1D20 for Resilience with privilege plus 7.
Gabriel: 58.
GM: Maxx’s Hit Points are currently 135.
Kazi Ethrel: 3 and 12.
GM: With a 19, Maxx blocks Metatron’s last blow and he grabs for Metatron with his big hand. Ethrel, roll for Strength with privilege plus 21 to see if Maxx grabs Metatron. Gabriel, roll for Agility with privilege plus 14. If successful, Metatron will take damage, and the Superguardian will squeeze for a second attack, then try to throw Metatron out of the octagon. If Maxx rolls successfully, on all three, Metatron will have to roll to save from being thrown out of the octagon and eliminated from the match.
Gabriel: 16 and 5.
GM: That’s a 30 for Metatron’s Agility.
Kazi Ethrel: 4 and 19.
GM: And a 40 for Maxx’s Strength. Maxx hits with his first attack. Ethrel, roll again for Strength with privilege plus 21 to see if Maxx successfully squeezes and throws Metatron out of the octagon.
Kazi Ethrel: Divine 1 and 13.
GM: With a 34, Maxx squeezes Metatron, who tries to swallow a groan of pain before Maxx throws him from the octagon. Ethrel, roll 2D20 and 18D4. The highest possible Damage Maxx can do with this attack is a 112. If he rolls more than half of that, more than 56, Metatron will be knocked out of the octagon and will have to save to avoid falling out of bounds.
Kazi Ethrel: 62.
GM: Metatron’s Hit Points are currently 82.
Gabriel, give me a roll for Resilience to see if Metatron saves from being thrown from the octagon.
Gabriel: 10.
GM: With a 10, Maxx gets a good throw and sends Metatron careening to the court outside of the octagon, but he muscles his wings to prevent himself from falling. In the position he’s in, though, he is vulnerable and Maxx will try to swat him with his big hand to knock him to the court outside of the octagon. Ethrel, roll for Strength with privilege plus 21 to see if Maxx swats Metatron out of bounds.
Kazi Ethrel: Divine 20.
GM: With a Divine 20, Metatron manages to muscle himself up with his wings to avoid falling out of bounds, until the big hand of Maxx slams down on him, and makes him fall on his back outside of the octagon.
Hysteria: The winner is Maxx, the Superguardian!
GM: The stadium erupts in cheers. It was a very exciting contest, but the Superguardian came to win and managed to overpower the powerful Metatron.
Hysteria: Maxx, the Superguardian is the victor of the 1st Dance of Hysteria!
