“I honestly think that this is cause for celebration,” Yana said, hanging from a cave wall that she clung to with the talons of her feet. The cavern was dark, but there was a neon blue glow from the pools of water that made the darkness soft and welcoming. The rocky ground of the cavern was carpeted with thick moss that was soft to the touch.

“It’s cause for celebration that Lorv and Ahdis have lied to me for so long? That Tracia has lied to me for so long?”

Pultine had been angry when she met Yana at the Neon Caverns of Sakpata’s disc, and her anger did not subside despite the spa-like atmospheres of the Neon Caverns where Fonlanders from all around the Fonlands go for a relaxing getaway. There are hot and cold pools of Essence infused waters throughout the Caverns, and the moss of the rocky floor is so thick that it is able to contour to anything that presses against it. Visitors are able to sleep or relax anywhere they choose while the moss massages and cleans their bodies. The moss is very intuitive and can produce heat or cold in localized spots to accommodate the body interacting with. The moss can also produce clouds, mists or puffs of smoke made of concentrated essence. Part of the cavern formation is exposed to the light of Sakpata’s jewel that is the sun of the disc, so visitors have their pick of the light or the darkness during daylight hours.

“I am just a fool to them,” Pultine said. She rested in a pool of water against the side of the pool opposite the wall where Yana hung. “They use me to do the work that is beneath their impeccable facades. I am an attack hound, not their sister.”

“It is cause for celebration,” Yana insisted. “ I know that you and Tracia have always been the true leaders of the mmoatia. Lorv and Ahdis are both honorable and formidable, but they are younger than you and Tracia. Her reemergence is good for you and your quest to slay Seraphiel. How is that going by the way?”

“Yana, Tracia is alive! I only wanted to kill him for what he did to Tracia, which he apparently didn’t even do!”

“Calm down,” Yana says. “I think killing him will make you feel so much better.”

“Has he cut off your supply of rhasd?”

“Completely!” Yana yells. “I was glad to get word from you and I needed this visit to the Neon more than you do. Sakpata doesn’t understand the value of the stuff, so I can’t get him to do anything about it. It’s a complete non-issue to him. So once again, I have to step up like the true Vodun of this disc and secure a new supply of the stuff all by myself. But I wouldn’t have to do that if you incinerated Endla already. You could just drop Rusa there and gas the whole place. Everyone’s problems would be solved.”

“With Tracia back, exterminating the aerphim is no longer an option,” Pultine said. “She was right about one thing, I should have known better. I should have seen what she’d done all those years ago in that swamp, but I don’t know, I was too distracted. I know Tracia, and if she has played this very long game, then there is a plan in motion that will be favorable for you, Yana. The mmoatia were supposed to prevent Legba from establishing himself as a god of that realm, but Legba was too curious and too cunning. Tracia must have devised a way to keep the aerphim in check, to reign them back onto Endla and stop their meddling on other worlds.”

“All I hear is cause for celebration!” Yana says happily. “Mixologist!” she called to one of the kammapa attendants that worked at the Neon Caverns. The kammapa are beings made of stone, and the mixologist is a statuesque male with a humanoid body of polished stone that shines under the glow of the pools. “My friend and I are celebrating! Please infuse the pool with something to promote joyful intoxication. Throw in something to relax the muscles, my friend and I are unnecessarily tense.”

The mixologist smiles and half bows at Yana. He has a sack at his chest with a strap over one shoulder and under the other, and he rummages through the sack. He produces two thin and long, glowing crystals, one dark blue, one red. He kneels next to the pool, smiling a smooth and glowing smile at Pultine who rolls her eyes at him, and touches the dark blue crystal to the water. At the spot where it touches, the dark blue color quickly diffuses through the water. He does the same with the red crystal and the water becomes a dark purple.

“You know how to mix a pool,” Pultine said with a hint of a slur creeping into her voice as the properties of the crystals infused into her body.

“Thank you for the compliment,” the mixologist said. “If you would like, I could mix up my most special pool for the two of us. If you would like companionship of course. I am not a pleasure worker here at the Neon, I am offering out of complete curiosity to know one as beautiful as you better…”

“Alright, that’s enough,” Yana said as she climbed down from the cave wall and slipped into the water. “My friend is very beautiful and she thanks you for your flattery, but we have much to discuss. Find her when she is alone.”

The mixologist bows again, winks at Pultine, and then leaves the two.

“He was nice,” Pultine said and she sank deeper into the pool, relaxing against the moss that lined the rocky inside. “I think I will take him up on his offer before we leave.”

“The kammapa are experts at the art of pleasure,” Yana said. “Well worth the money for the pleasure workers here.”

“I wasn’t aware that there was a fee for enjoying the pleasure workers,” Pultine said with a chuckle.

“Well, we can’t all be pristine Pultine of the large flower,” Yana says jokingly. “Speaking of desperate men throwing themselves at you, where is Rusa?”

“Oh, I sent him to Gu’s disc to meet with Groostlang at the Platinum square for me. I figure it was time he learned to use his charms to make alliances of his own in the Fonlands. He should be here soon, I expect him before Sakpata’s jewel sets.”

“Speak of the Vodun…”

“Is Sakpata here?” Pultine asked and turned to look in the direction that Yana was looking, but she saw Rusa approaching. His wings gave off a mist of his green essence that died down with each step. He looked strong with his wings at his back and just cloth covering his modesty. He held his long staff in his hand and he leaned on it next to the pool.

“I think that I have to visit Grootslang in the Chamber soon,” he said to Pultine.

“So it went well?” she asked.

“Too well. He was disappointed not to see you at first, but he quickly forgot that you weren’t there. He is obsessed with wings.”

“It’s creepy,” Pultine said.

“Hello, Queen Yana,” Rusa said as he removed his cloth, laid down his staff and slipped into the pool.

“It is good to see you Rusa, as strong as ever.”

“It is good to see you. Have you been trying to talk Pultine into attacking Endla?”

“Of course,” Yana said matter of factly. “But I don’t think there is a need if Tracia is back. Pultine and Tracia will have the aerphim serving that realm and this one as recompense for their sins when all is said and done. We are celebrating.”

“I see,” Rusa said and it was clear from the daze washing over his face that he was beginning to feel the intoxication of the pool. “It has been a long journey to this point and I am glad that we have reached this moment of reprieve. We have earned it, Pristine.”

“Yes, but just a moment. Soon we will have to go to Age’s disc to hear the plans of my sisters, and then it is back to work. I would still like Seraphiel’s head as a trophy and even if his attempt on her life was a failure, I’m sure Tracia will see the wisdom in that. I will enjoy time here at the Neon for two more risings of Sakpata’s jewel, then we are back on course pretty boy.”

“I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Game Move:

GM: Hi Pultine! I’m the game master, welcome to the Arch of Hysteria Campaign!

Pultine: Oh, is this new at the Neon? I’ve never experienced this before.

GM: Oh no, I’m sorry. I am the Game Master, I don’t work for the Neon. I just wanted to introduce myself, I’ll be your GM as we progress in the campaign. I’ll come in, usually at the end of a section of your story to have you roll dice to see how your story will progress. Because of the structure of your story, it won’t work quite that way. Moving forward, through the end of this SOS series, I will cut in during the narrative and have you roll the dice for various things.

Pultine: If you were aware how drunk I am right now, you would not use so many words to introduce yourself.

GM: Fair enough! Just know that I will be popping up in the future and prompting you on game moves. That cool?

Pultine: Sounds lovely. Do you think that I could order some of those delightful crystal bites? The sharp ones that pop when you crunch them?

GM: I’m sorry, Pristine, I really don’t work here. Maybe you can call the mixologist?

Tune in next week when Pultine will hopefully be sobered up and her story post finding out that Tracia is still alive continues! And keep in mind that the rules work differently for a Supreme Aboatia. She’s more powerful, so the dice assert their will over her in different ways.
