Parallel Principle #10 : Tread carefully.
: :
The best way to prepare for the unexpected is to always be on your toes. Whether positive or negative, the unexpected can be an inconvenience if you’re caught flat footed. Take the principle literally; watch where you place your feet as you move physically though the world. Also, be mindful of the figurative. Be open to new people and experiences, but navigate them with care and attention.

Come back soon for the last three issues of Volume 2. You don’t want to miss the exciting conclusion to the best serial fiction on the internet!

Thursday and Saturday seek out Friday with the hope that they can foil Tuesday’s plan. Is two enough to stop the assaination? Will Friday be willing to help them find Tuesday?
The Black Man Who Was Thursday: “After about fifteen minutes, Saturday stopped on the sidewalk in front of a building and motioned for Thursday to follow her up the stoop and to the front door. The outside of the building was dark, as though electricity was out on the specific block where the building sat, but Saturday knocked firmly on the door.”

After the crossover, our story leaps forward to the present day where we meet a waitress who doubles as a singer. It’s an exciting new era for the epic in the making!
The Divine Essence: “After a long shift at the fancy restaurant in Manhattan, New York where she waits tables, serves drinks, and sometimes fills in on the mainstage when the musical act can’t go on, Ariel Baxter’s big eyes are usually half cocked, and her dark brown skin shines with sweat that beads on her forehead and glistens her long legs and forearms.”

Music festivals are usually a good time for music fans. It’s a good opportunity to see multiple acts live. Third Heaven is the most exclusive music festival in the world of The Divine Essence and takes place on an island accessible by ferry. But beware, music lovers, there seems to be something nefarious afoot.
Third Heaven (One-Shots): “They were on the deck of a large ferry where a party was in full swing. The boat was covered in lights that made the ambiance magical as it moved through the night, headed to an island for one of the most exclusive music festivals in the world.”

Zora comes to say goodbye to her grandmother. It’s a sad time indeed, and Zora contemplates her mother’s warnings against seeing the woman on her deathbed.
Sun of the Morning: “Zora arrived at her grandmother’s house and she sat in her car in the driveway for long enough to finish crying and to fix her face. Crying alone – in her car, in various rooms of her house, on the bench in the park near her house – was familiar to Zora by that point, since that day years ago when her grandmother had told her she’d spoken to her dead husband who delivered the unfortunate news about Zora’s babies.”

The shuffle plays on as VIV takes us to Lenoir, North Carolina for the annual blackberry festival. Sarah is a beauty pageant contestant with aspirations to compete in the blackberry eating contest.
Shuffle: “One year, Sarah faced a real conundrum. She lived in Lenoir and looked forward to the festival every year, and every year she dreamed of participating in the blackberry eating contest. Sarah begged and begged to be allowed to enter, but her mother told her that competitive eating competitions were extremely unladylike.”

It seems that Tamarvan has a special affection for Viv, and even though he brings their second meeting to an abrupt end, Max feels good about the prospects of more conversations with him in the future.
A Misguided Solution: “The next day, Tamarvan and I sat across from one another and it felt less like I was sitting with a horrible man who I probed for justification for horrible acts committed. We weren’t friends, but our meeting the day before had definitely humanized him. He wasn’t a rabid terrorist who only wanted to murder people.”
