One theory that circulates among the many scholars who collaborate in this gargantuan effort is that the multiverse is a living organism. Some speculate that each universe of the multiverse is comparable to a skin cell, and we are a consciousness within that cell that has described the nature of the unfathomable being to which we are but a tiny spec of its constituent matter. If that is true, are there universes embedded deep within us that cycle through countless cycles of life and death in a span of time that is infinitesimal to us? Another question, what is the nature of the existence of the multiversal organism? Is it floating in nothingness, alone and unaware of the countless realities that make it up? Or is it existing in a reality, on a planet in a solar system, in a galaxy, in a universe, in a multiverse that makes up something else? Is all of existence a complex series of nesting doll realities?
These questions do not find answers within these pages. This Encyclopedia is not concerned with characterizing the nature of the multiversal organism. We are only concerned with documenting the experience of realities of the known multiverse for those curious about the manifestation of reality in a universe foreign to them. The questions above are the result of countless hours contemplating the nature of the multiverse and wondering at its purpose. In actuality, the purpose of the multiverse, the reason that it came into being and continues to thrive in the relative present, is not really something that we could ever hope to uncover. We did well enough to find one another across universes, and that took such a long time that the prospect of truly understanding the multiversal superstructure is so daunting that it would take us millenia more to even approach it.
Technology exists that allows beings to physically travel from one universe to another. It originates in the Dark Universe of Node 1, and when one physically moves from one universe to another, multiversally they are said to have sublimed. In Chemistry, sublime describes the transition from the solid to the vapor state, skipping the liquid state altogether; i.e. dry ice. When one sublimes to another universe, they are converted into vapor, the particles of which are capable of combining with the fundamental energy of the universe that is constantly cycling through the multiverse, and they are able to travel the multiversal structure to another universe where they can revert from the vapor to the solid state. The creation of sublime technology is believed to have originated in the Dark Universe Earth of Node 1, but nothing is known of its creator. Only that it was developed under the auspices of a conglomerate known as COHH Inc.
