Parallel Principle #6 : Loyalty is king.
: :
Should you manage to secure interesting friends, don’t lose them by selling them out to others who might cause them harm or humiliation. Friends look out for one another, and a failure to be there for the friends you have will sabotage your ability to make new friends in the future. News travels fast among the circles that influential people inhabit, and word of your disloyalty will make you toxic to everyone in the know.

Thursday learns the real nature of the Council he finds himself on. They are truly evil incarnate. Who could even dream of harming America’s Queen Bey?
The Black Man Who Was Thursday: “Now then, we have welcomed our new Thursday, we have been reminded of our purpose, let’s get down to the real business at hand. The assignation of Beyonce Knowles Carter.”

It’s time to learn more about the magical Umbatia. What do they really want with Coffey? Find out now.
The Divine Essence: “’I can’t do this,’ Lofet said as he paced the grass. Sene and a group of Umbatia sat at what seemed to be a large table, but it was made from a mound of Earth. Lofet’s seat, which was a small sprout of grass that Umbatia could encourage to grow in a matter of seconds by using the Essence, was empty.”

It’s a bittersweet end to the Thanksgiving lovefest. Uncle Thomas is saddened by surprise tension with a man he’d met in friendship.
Come Close: “He wandered to sit in a lawn chair and held his head in his hands. He wasn’t crying, but his face was still in agony and shock. It dawned on me how much this friendship actually meant to my uncle; the way he’d described the relationship the day before, it seemed that they were more casual acquaintances than his emotions after the phone call suggested.”

Lincoln Crowder becomes a songwriter and he is ready for his debut. In a story about various Satans, is it even necessary to say that you should always be careful what you wish for? You should.
Sun of the Morning: “They debuted the song at Ladoga’s annual Winter Festival talent show held in a renovated movie theater in downtown. The Winter Festival is a major event for the town and is always well attended.”

Max’s last turn at the Shuffle takes us to a realistic future where we meet a woman happy at a new addition to her family. It’s a joyous occasion for sure, but the past has turned the future into a harsh place.
Shuffle: “Shareetha gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. He was born with a full head of hair and his skin was the same color as his mother’s. He had his father’s scowl, Shareetha saw it as he squirmed and yelled, but there was something about the shape of his face that allowed her to see more of herself in him.”

Sometimes the friends we make teach us more than we learn in any school or book. Witness Tamarvan’s education on the cruelty that can exist in the world, a lesson he learns at the expense of a very good friend.
A Misguided Solution: “Tamarvan dedicated himself steadfastly to whatever thing he was doing, whether it was the yearbook, the club for future business leaders, French club, or the chess club; the last of which he had founded himself as a freshman with his two best friends. For Tamarvan there was nothing more important than success and he wanted his high school scholarship to take him to one of the impressive academic institutions he had been researching since he was a middle schooler.”
