Hello and welcome to the Parallel Serials 13-week course on human relations. Do you want a better life for yourself and your loved ones? Are you feeling stalled in a life that doesn’t make you happy? Well, you’ve come to the right place, dear readers. Over the next four months, you will meet people, and some other-worldly beings, who demonstrate what it takes to go out into the world and find an interesting life. By the end of the summer, you will be well equipped to attract friends and impress the influential people who make the world go round, all thanks to the best serial fiction on the internet. We care about your success and with our proven methods, you will finally attain the life that you always wanted.

Don’t think of this as a self help course, it is so much more than that. Of course we want to empower you to improve your life, but there are no simple tactics to employ that will solve all of your problems. There is no quick fix, no easy road to success and happiness. But there are principles to guide you on your way as you navigate the world and meet new people.

Each week, we will present a Parallel Principle and then delve deeper into how to apply that Principle to your life and in your pursuit of success.

: : :

Parallel Principle #1 : When meeting something new, always make a proper greeting that conforms to the customs of the one you hope to impress.

: :

First up, greetings. There are so many people, so many beings of existence and your goal must be to make a good first impression with any and all of them. Don’t be nervous when encountering someone new, be prepared. In order to make a good first impression, you should know how everything in existence performs respectful greetings. Not everything you encounter will be willing or able to shake hands, and for some, the gesture may even be considered obscene. To avoid disprecting a potential friend, you must familiarize yourself with every possible thing that you could possibly encounter. Find books or other media about distant lands for information about their inhabitants before traveling to them, or on the off chance they visit you. The internet is an invaluable resource for this. Also, if you can get your hands on a copy, the Encyclopedia of the Known Multiverse Vol. ∞ is an excellent resource to familiarize yourself with beings of other planets or realities.

We’re just getting started and it promises to be a very productive summer for those dedicated to achieving their full potential. Come back next week for more! We’re excited to see you again soon.

He’s back, and you know what? I’m excited. Azalaan is leading a paranoid life after his encounter with the enigmatic Sunday from the Interim Short, Heart of Blackness. Things get weird when he encounters a follower of the man and the politically charged satire of the summer kicks off at a protest.

The Black Man Who Was Thursday: “Azalaan was very paranoid during his sophomore year at Columbia, always looking for clues that Sunday had come for him and was manipulating him into a complex trap that he must be wary of. When he introduced himself to others, he studied them carefully for signs that they were up to something, nefarious or no.”

It’s time for a new era of heroes. VIV is back, and with her comes the PRL Heroes signature that blessed us with the Hyperion epic. In this new era, we travel to universe Prime 5, where the mystical Fonlands regularly appear.

The Divine Essence: “The appearance of the Fonlands on Earth is a coincidence of very complex physics and the nature of the Fonlands is not quite existence as it is known throughout the multiverse. The entirety of the Fonlands is seven discs that overlap to form a circle with a large disc suspended above them on seven pillars that emerge from each disc, and it all rests atop the slumbering snake that hoists it up into the ether.”

Wes tells the story of gathering with his uncle Thomas and other members of his family in preparation for Thanksgiving. It’s a tale of masculinity and relationships like only Wes can tell.

Come Close: “We were in Ladoga of all places, in the backyard of my grandfather’s house. The men of my family; including my brother, my father, uncle Thomas, my aunt’s husband, and my grandfather; had met to discuss the meat situation for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. Our families would convene at my grandfather’s house on the day and it was shaping up to be a very special holiday because my grandmother would make an appearance.”

If family curses are real, then all of our sins were born in the past. Meet Afonso, a black man trying to improve his station in a time when black people had very little opportunities. What would you compromise to get ahead?

Sun of the Morning: “Afonso stole the motorcycle that he rode into Ladoga, North Carolina in the early 1950s. He cruised into the Bottoms with a leather jacket, black bomber helmet, and dark shades, and everyone on the street watched him with wonder, like he was a visiting alien in full space gear and riding a vehicle that was otherworldly.”

Playlist 2 continues with a strange transformation. Imagine going about your business and then spontaneously sprouting wings. I guess there are worse things.

Shuffle:  “When the spring comes, Nico looks forward to the flowers blooming and the spread of green on the landscape. He isn’t a fan of the allergies that turn his eyes bloodshot, itches the soft tissue of his face, and causes him to sneeze uncontrollably, but it’s worth it for the change from the cold death of winter.”

The town of Ladoga, North Carolina has a rich history filled with stories of triumph and tragedy. Among them is the story of Tamarvan Edward Barnes, previously referred to as Ellison Colston (his real name is used here at his insistence). In his pursuit of the first VIV, Max travels to a prison to speak with the man who turned a town’s respect into an act of senseless violence.

A Misguided Solution: “Tamarvan Edward Barnes had not lost his mind in prison, he may have even been sharper if those who continued to visit him that knew him before his incarceration are to be believed.”
