North Mother was first born. She breached the darkness like she always does, boldly, bringing light on her heels. She made the stars.
South Mother was second. She followed after her sister and made the planets that her nieces and nephews would shine down upon.
Then East Mother, who moved everything around and gave the heavens life as the winds and currents of the universe.
The West Mother came next and she brought the waters that settled on South Mother’s planets.
Then the Equatorial Mother made the animals that could only exist after the work of her sisters.
Together, they were everything. They had made everything.
But then they learned disagreement in their vaulted positions – too many competing ideas for existence – and they split up to preside over their respective elements of the universe.
