Time to Read:

4–6 minutes

All sentient life is connected. The appendages may be different, we may eat different things, and live in different solar systems, but at the end of the day, we’re all one big family.

It’s time to explore the branches of the universal family tree, and today, we present:

140

– Issue 2 – The Light

Our Alia is offline.

That’s not good.

We were distracted with Maria, and she didn’t even return the soul.

She was a waste of effort.

She is necessary. She will be necessary. You will eat your words one day for doubting her.

Are you her mother? The one that convinced us she was worth attention?

I’m not

What are we arguing about?

It should be said that we are not our normal self. We have experienced trauma and we should allow ourselves time to heal. We do not mean what we are saying right now, we are confused…

Don’t explain away my feelings…

We gave Maria a gift that compromised our adherence to our Recommendation, to identify and empower a woman who exemplifies in the parallel of existence that is the original home of Aje-yel the abilities and strength that Aje-yel embodies, who can defend life on a large scale as will be required. Maria is not that woman, nothing she will do will make me regret those words.

It was a tactical decision. The Alia was slowly losing her abilities as we struggled to keep ourselves together, and Maria was another option while we figured out what was wrong. Do we know now?

Don’t you feel lighter?

There are less voices with us.

Some of us were jumbled up, we are slowly becoming our old selves again.

What will we do when we are?

What we always do, what we have been tasked to do.

“The Aje is going berserk. Just phase into reality and reboot the woman.”

In the light realm, where it is very bright and there is a persistent hum that moves everything therein, there are two beings in spacesuits that accommodate their horns. They are both large beings, but their size is nothing compared to the size of the Aje, the raging engine of power that the 140 used to interfere in the prime parallel of reality, in accordance with the Par-Cell Recommendation that established that the Aje was of tantamount importance very long ago. At the center of the enormous ball of power was the Ascendant Aje-yel 134, who had seemingly lost her life ages ago on special assignment to find the realm of light. Her mission was to evaluate it’s properties for use in the work to advance the Recommendation, but she never returned. Eventually Aje-yel contacted Par-Cell through whatever new abilities she had acquired while in the light realm and the 140 discovered that she had been transformed by collecting the energies of souls that had found their way to the light.

“Can you blame it,” the other of the suited beings said. “It was being pulled apart by that sucking. It should be fine with time. It will settle.”

“There’s nothing we can do? The Alia will need full access soon. The worst is coming for her.”

“We all know that the worst is coming, that’s why we came here. But you see, the Aje needs time.”

“So we send some spirits to help her.”

“Thank Par-Cell you are not the one making plans for the 140. What do you think Wendy is for? And Maria has the resurrected soul in check, she’s taming the alien. It’s all going as planned. We didn’t come here to correct the Recommendation. We came here to status report on the Aje. Let’s go.”

The beings boarded a small ship of resplendent colors that stood out against the start white backdrop. They removed their suits once they were inside and both were female with a coating of brown fur. They both stretched their wings that had been compressed in their suits. They each went to work at the controls of the ship and before long, it seemed to tune out of the reality of the light realm, like it faded from the realm as a weak signal that was finally lost.

The ship reappeared on the Quinspace Pluto, where the 140 had been meeting since the relative beginning of the solar system. There is a gigantic castle on Quinspace Pluto and it has been the clandestine meeting place of the 140 since the location was changed from the planet Top, back when their group was still a class that Par-Cell 77 taught called Universal Theogony. The first group that she selected for her class were her very own 77. The planet Top, that is home to the Ascendant and still occupies the Quinspace of the relative present, is governed by 76 Ascendant who are elected to the most important positions in society, the One in Command being the 77th. In devising her Recommendation to correct the mistake of the Ascendant, she decided to replicate the Ascendant government because she appreciated the way members were selected to represent wide swaths of their sisters on the planet and that they came together to make decisions; it was truly representative government in Par-Cell’s opinion. Her new 77 could carry on her vision and select their own replacements as they retired, and they could navigate an unpredictable future to ensure that the Recommendation could be realized. Even though Par-Cell had working knowledge of her previous lives in previous universal lifecycles, which is known as aeonic memory, she was not certain of the exact events that would be the future of the current universal lifecycle. She had synthesized a most likely scenario with her other perfect parallel selves, and her new 77, which she called the 140, or 77 in base 7, would see the actual future and lay the Recommendations on top of it.
