The PRL Event: Darker Resurrection 24 (End)

The Place of Light

The realm of light is only the human concept of heaven in the sense that the void spaces are the human concept of hell. It just so happens that the human idea of hell lines up with the characteristics of these in between spaces, though it could be that these void spaces became the dumping ground of all the evils that could be banished from their physical realms.

The realm of light is similar, in that its characteristics happen to line up with the description of heavenly paradise after death. The realm of light has the name because it is a bright place and there is a hum there that sounds like a massive chorus. But these are only a few things that describe the realm of light.

The realm of light is the location of the Aje and following the resurrection, the Aje was not the same. Souls had been taken from all across the matter spectrum, and the Aje lost souls that make up the powerful entity.

The Alia won’t realize this until she gazes into the sun hoping to access the solar futures, but the members of the Aje who fell victim to the suck were the very same that allowed for her incredible ability to access all parallels of existence. These women lived lives in many of the parallel realities that exist and losing them is a huge blow to the Aje that is still extremely powerful, but now is comprised of relatively inexperienced souls who have not necessarily been charged with dispensing the powers at their disposal.

The Aje has been crippled, and so has the Alia.

She doesn’t like being alone in Clay’s house, and neither Gertrude nor Vita have taken her up on her requests to spend the night with her, so Alia has had to cope. She doesn’t mind being alone, though she never is actually alone from the time she returns to North Carolina because Yuri has insisted on sleeping on Clay’s couch, but the absence of Ivan and Clay makes her worry. Ivan had eventually called a few days after the resurrection event, but the call was short and Alia wasn’t able to get an idea when they would be home. Ivan had reassured her that Clay would recover, but he was short on details.

Alia let’s Yuri stay at Clay’s house for about a week before the two have a very sensitive conversation. They sit in the living room and Alia turns off the TV show they are watching.

“This isn’t what you came here to do,” Alia says. “I’m supposed to be your prisoner.”

“What does that mean?” Yuri asks in a dismissive way.

“I like you, but I’m more sure now than when we first met,” Alia says, “we can’t be friends. And you need to leave.”

Yuri sighs, “If I leave, then I have to go see the doctor and I can’t tell him that I didn’t find you.”

“Then don’t go back to him, but you can’t stay here.”

Yuri nods and he glares at Alia. “If this is what you want, then so be it.”

“It’s what I want,” Alia says.

Yuri leaves the house and stands on the front porch. “The next time you see me, it won’t be as a friend.”

Alia nods.

“I will complete my mission then.”

“You can try your best,” Alia says and watches Yuri leave. He returns to the home of the drug dealer/purveyor of prostitution, but he does not go inside. He gets into an expensive looking car and drives off; Alia can see his frown through the car window.

Hopefully Clay and Ivan will be home soon. But the Alia isn’t too worried. She has a lot of experience with men who can make real their imaginations. And men who leave her bitterly with promises to return as an enemy. One could wonder when her luck will run out, but the Alia doesn’t need luck. Not when she believes that she still has access to the future.
