The trip from Rock Hill, South Carolina to Monroe, North Carolina can take a little under an hour in a car driving the speed limit. If you take interstate 77 that runs through Rock Hill and to the southern part of Charlotte, you can get onto interstate 485 and take a section of the loop to Matthews, then get onto highway 74 and take it through Indian Trail, Stallings, Sun Valley, and then Monroe. Some will say that this is the circuitous route, like a boomerang facing southeast on the map, instead of a direct shot. The direct shot is a tangle of neighborhood roads, country roads, through-ways with two lanes going both ways. The direct route might be perceived as slower because interstates and highways allow for faster speeds, and trying to navigate residential streets will be more complicated and slower.
This was the challenge: From the Hill to the ‘Roe, upload a video of the entire trip to a private Facebook group, fastest time gets $1000.
