There is a device that contains details of all time and existence from the start and as it marches forward. This device is a God Machine; its machinations are wondrous to all sentient beings of the universe, or it would be if its existence was widely known. These are the tales from the Aeternus.

from The True Start of Everything, The Origins of Earthling Magic
Based on the myths and stories of Earth, it would seem that magic is abundant, but much of the magic on Earth is not trusted or believed and goes unacknowledged or explained away as some other phenomenon. There are many rituals on Earth, much of them associated with the various religions that explain and define Earthling purpose, that Earthlings have enacted for years unaware that they can grant access to the very magic that AEther itself created when it stirred the Earth to life so many years ago.

AEther
Believed by some to be the creator of all sentient life in the known universe and impetus for all supernatural (beyond the realm or explanations of scientific inquiry) manifestations in our reality.

Encyclopedia of the Known Universe Vol. I (excerpt 15 – appendix to “S” entry on sentience)
This volume adheres to the belief that the entity previously referred to as AEther is the creator of life, the ability to perceive Time and subsequently contemplate the repercussions of its movements, and the resulting advanced sapience that is a feature of many of the sentient species that exist in the universe. Supposing that AEther is the creator of our experience, and it’s motivation is to slow Time by propagating sentience throughout the universe, then it stands to reason that AEther has a vested interest in the protection of said sentience. Evidence of this can be seen on various planets, and in various civilizations that have been extensively documented by the PRL contributors.
The crowns of the Fhet Kings were bestowed upon the civilization by AEther as it mourned for Fhetatians at the devastation of their home world. It ushered the civilization to the Fhetat, manipulating variables to indistinguishable effect to ensure that the Fhetatians survived the asteroid strike in numbers that would have been far less without AEther’s intervention. The wearers of the crowns were chosen as AEther observed the civilization in the inconceivable way that it knows and it placed the crowns on those it deemed most equipped to wield its magics to the benefit of the greater sentient population. Fhetatian customs, that do not acknowledge the existence of Aether, have determined the possession of the crowns since AEther’s initial choices.
On the planet Hafjeran, AEther found itself empowering underdogs in the same way that it did on the planet Earth. AEther had tried to remain detached from its creation, aware that its magics were immense and could interrupt the natural spread of its creation throughout the universe, but there were times when it found itself unable to simply spectate. AEther saw the struggle of the Hafjeris at the hands of the Bromeris and it bestowed upon a few the ability to amass the collective will of the downtrodden to help repel their oppressors who made life miserable and ultimately hindered the spread of sentience. On Earth, AEther saw the exploitation of Earthling cultures and did the same, and on both planets, there are beings who manifest physical strength that alters their bodies and makes them more capable defenders of AEther’s creation. There are beings of Earth who surprised AEther and managed to manipulate it’s magics in ways that even it had not contemplated. A lineage of females had managed to tap into the latent magics that exist throughout the universe and this was possible because AEther gave all of its sentient creations the potential to do extraordinary things. The sentient mind is a gift with hidden benefits that only the Druintes seem to have discovered, though surprisingly not in themselves. The Druinte fascination with Earthlings seems to stem from the ease with which an Earthling mind can access the wondrous magics of AEther, though Druintes also do not acknowledge the existence of AEther and it’s magics. This Druinte fascination with the Earthling mind is not pervasive; our contributors can only cite one concrete incidence of this fascination. But the sentient minds throughout the universe are just as capable of the wonders that some Earthlings exhibit. It just seems to be a less common occurrence, as though sentient populations are so disconnected from their creator and it’s goals that they cannot access it’s gifts.
AEther has chosen protectors throughout the universe, whether they are aware of their role in its scheme or not. Like the Fhet Kings, they are capable of marvelous things.

It’s the end of the line for a lot of Hafjeris, but not for Whadgaf Jiris.
Agent Red: “Liuar recognized her then, seeing her rip through wave after wave of the order’s warriors, smashing faces and ripping limbs and wings from bodies, and then the brave members of the order who wanted revenge for their fallen family members. She was the embodiment of Hafjeris righteous anger and Liuar smiled at the sight of her fighting because she moved with a purpose that he had not seen in the warriors of the order in at least a generation.”

It’s a sad end for the apparent leader of the social society, Falstraq. Things took a tragic turn last issue, and the repercussions force Falstraq to make a devastating decision.
Druinte Social Society: “God is a Druinte of mischief, a veritable anarchist. E can’t understand why; there is something deep inside of erim that moves erim to see a fellow Druinte cry or bleed. ”

Some rulers defy expectations. There are times when even the mightiest of men are not the best suited for a position of power.
Fhet Kings (One-Shots): “Pleased with her skill, King Deat married Jual there on the battlefield, the corpses of their enemies scattered all around. Many people praised King Deat’s choice. There are few women who earned respect as Jual had and they saw her as a true vessel for the might of Fhet. She would surely give King Deat a great son who would be his heir and carry on as a competent representative of the people”

It’s Clay vs Desperation! Who will emerge victorious? And why does Desperation have baseball players helping him?
Love as Power (Diode Bk. 1): “Clay sits out on the front porch a lot. Ivan and his sister have been gone for a couple of days, and he has spent every free hour sitting and watching the sidewalk in front of his house. Waiting for the man with the gall to lay hands on Ivan.”

Kevin continues zombie cleanup with the help of Ivan. And we learn more about the history of the mysterious Alia.
Amazing Elroy (Amazing Elroy, The Magician Bk. 2): “It is said that the Emperor Charlemagne first used the word alia to describe a tall and lithe Ethiopian woman, with big, brown and woeful eyes who told him his future just by looking into his eyes. And this woman, who also had the ability to control metals, was the first to spot the Alia among her offspring, and then taught all of her daughters to identify the Alia, to cultivate her powers, and to keep her safe from those who would exploit them.”
