Editor’s Note: The lifespan figures presented below are calculated based on Relative Earth Time or RET.

The lifespan of the sentient populations of the known universe vary greatly from population to population. The average lifespan of an Earthling is 79 years, though the oldest living human being on Earth is 145 years old. The lifespan of Earthlings is similar to that of the beings of the planet Oin where the oldest living Ointite is just over 100 years old. The Rhasdwiis, Bromeris, and the Hafjeris all have the same average lifespan of about 350 years. The average lifespan of a Druinte is 600 years, though the oldest living being on Druont is over a thousand years old.

The average lifespan of a being in the known universe seems to correspond to the amount of time that the population to which it belongs has existed. The Druintes consider it a fact of the universe that their civilization is the most ancient and they have a treatise signed by all planetary members of the Interstellar Panel that officially acknowledges this as fact; signing of the treatise is a condition of inclusion. This has been a point of contention between the Druintes and the Hafjeris from the inception of the Interstellar Panel. Hafjeris scholars contend that the ancient civilization that eventually fractured into the Hafjeris, the Bromeris, and the Rhasdwiis probably came into existence around the same that the Druintes date the start of their species. The Druintes dismiss any argument from the Hafjeris as unfounded conjecture because the Hafjeris are unable to meet the strict scientific criteria for determining the exact start of a species as they currently exist, and the Hafjeris have refused to allow Druinte scientists access to resources to make a determination. The Bromeris and the Rhasdwiis are generally uninterested in the argument, though most Bromeris scholars who are knowledgeable in the subject tend to agree with the Hafjeris that their ancestors are probably just as ancient as the Druintes. Officially though, the Bromeris government tends to side with Druintes on all business before the Interstellar Panel. Relations between the Hafjeris and the Bromeris have been strained since the fracturing of their ancient ancestors.
