I’m gonna say it, this summer really sucks. It was supposed to be cool and filled with creativity in the new space, but so far we’ve hit some setbacks. Not only have I been dealing with a drama that is apparently mostly imagined (I’m not crazy though, I promise), but it turns out that I’ve been sharing my home with a mouse. I know, a mouse is tiny and I’m a grown man, but it’s gross to think about it running over my stuff. I called an exterminator and I’m praying that he can restore my peace of mind very soon so that I can get back to the curation of the best serial stories on the internet. For all of the wonderful things that come with home ownership, there are perils that occupy all of your attention until they’re resolved. I haven’t mowed my grass in weeks because every time I do, I notice a new fire ant hill, so the exterminator is on that as well. And the nob on my back screen door randomly fell off so I have to replace that at some point. And I’ve been doing my best to trim the trees and bushes around the house that are threatening my power lines and that climb the walls of the house and give ants a pathway in side. And I’ve been weeding the perimeter of my yard and the cracks in my driveway by hand and it’s largely ineffective so I think I need a chemical solution; though that hasn’t worked on the weeds in the cracks in the driveway. All small tragedies that take attention away from what really matters.Don’t go away folks, we’re (almost) halfway through Volume II and I promise you that it only gets better. Even my new mouse roommate agrees, though hopefully he won’t be my roommate for very much longer.
