The planet Earth is very hospital for life and the beings of that planet have evolved there along with the planet for a very long time. The dominant species on the planet has changed over the course of its history, but the current dominant species, known as Earthlings, believe that they have existed for as long as the planet. This is an unfair, blanket statement; there is a very rich tapestry of beliefs on the planet, but unlike the Druintes and the Rhasdwiis, Earthling cultures are very divided and hard to characterize in a generalization. It is fair to say, though, that most Earthlings believe that an entity from the heavens, or the sky, or space, came to the darkness and brought light and life. Most modern Earthling are unaware how this simple story was shaped by the movement of its planet through its cosmic neighborhood that is inhabited by many other planets and moons and asteroids, but of course, early Earthlings looked to their sky for answers to questions that were hard or impossible to answer.

The Earth revolves a star that many call Sun, and it is just one of eight other planetary bodies revolving Sun. When Earthlings looked to their heavens, they saw Sun shone the brightest and came to understand that without it, there would be no life, no food. And because of the simultaneous revolution and rotation of the Earth, Earthlings experienced Sun rise and set as a matter of steady, reliable habit. They saw Sun arrive to break the hold of darkness when scary things generally let loose, and every morning, Sun would arrive to rid the world of the perceived evil. In deference to Sun’s ability to scare off the darkness, Earthlings developed many different stories of creators who mimicked the power of Sun. The names of these imagined creators are too many to list, but they are generally all gods of light who punish the wicked and reward the devoted and chaste. And sometimes, these creators have children who interact with Earthlings in their adventures. All the time, though, there is a god in opposition to this light who forsook the god of light and is marked as the ruler of darkness.
