VIII. (listserv)

Not immediately, because she wants very much to be blase about the ridiculousness of her meeting with Thomas, but eventually, Emma will set to work with a huge sheet of white paper that is bigger than her body. She will tape it to a wall in her apartment and she will stand on a chair with the biggest, black marker she can find. On the paper she will write the word ‘CONS’ in all caps along the top. She will decide that this sheet of paper will house all of her grievances with men who said and did stupid things just to stroke their own egoes. And she will not let the size of the list deter her from friendship with men in the future, on the contrary, she feels that it will help her understand men better. When she has female friends and relatives over to her apartment, she will give them a marker and have them climb up on a chair to add any cons that they are aware of from their interactions with self-centered men, and each person who adds a con will write their email on the back of the long piece of white paper. Eventually, Emma will illustrate each of the cons, one at a time, for a weekly email that she will send to every female on the listserv. They will be funny illustrations to make the listserv laugh and eventually, the listserv will include nearly the entire female population of NYC.
